The UFL (United Football League) will be wrapping up their season on Thanksgiving weekend, freeing up the players to sign with NFL teams if they can. I'm hoping the Phins take a look at a couple UFL players, and since WR is such a critical need for us, one WR in particular has caught my eye; Taye Biddle.

Biddle plays for the Florida Tuskers team, which has dominated the UFL league so far. The stats are not astounding and you have to consider the level of competition is closer to college than NFL, but the kid has made plays and shown a lot of heart. He has good size at 6'1", good speed and good hands.

His bio is here: http://www.ufl-football.com/players/profile/2900

I believe there are at least a handful of UFL playes who can play at the NFL level, but were overlooked for one reason or another. I hope the Trifecta won't overlook the chance to bring a couple guys in and see what they have.

I have not seen any games but you never know

sometimes all a player needs is an opportunity to show what you can do

Taye Biddle has been amazing in the UFL. The kid has singly dominated games. I have been dying for the season to end so we can give him a look, I hope.

The level of UFL play has been impressive, I'd rather watch the Florida Tuskers play the Las Vegas Locomotives than many of the bottomfeeder matchups in the NFL.

Anyway, Biddle would need some time to learn the offense, but any UFL players coming in would already be in "game shape" for having played at least six games.

The more important thing to me, besides the flashes of talent, is the heart and desire many of these guys have shown. These are guys who will make the most of any chance to play in the NFL, not being content that they got drafted high and got a fat check.

Any holes the Phins can fill with a UFL player or two, even just for depth, leaves that many more options during the 2010 draft and free agency period.

This will be interesting to follow. Are you sure they can just come into the league as free agents when the UFL season is over and not a supplemental draft?

None of the UFL players are under contract with the NFL, nor are they obligated to continue playing for the UFL if they get offered an NFL contract. These are free agents all around.

I understand that some like 72champagne will mock the UFL players, but it won't cost Miami anything to bring a few in and see if they can help the team.

I could bring up the example of Kurt Warner, but closer to home remember that Oronde Gadsden played in the AFL before getting his chance with Miami.

I'd LOVE to get another guy with hands like he had. It would be a sweet change to see a few great catches instead of more drops.

agreed

look at Camarillo and Welker, you just never know

I am glad I am not a scout or GM because there is little on college game tapes that will tell you how a receiver will do when it comes to running routes and reading defenses in the NFL. College receivers look like they are playing 8 man football on a CFL field

I guess I missed the footage of Ginn showing incredible hands at OSU:d-day:, can someone dig it up for me?

I say we should never look away from a player because of the league he plays in.

Didn't we get some guy from some scrub league in Canada this off season? Huh, I wonder where he went..

Oh right, he has more sacks than than all of our linebackers combined excluding JT.

at this point ill try anything

Well, it's not about being desperate so much as just being careful to consider all resources.

These UFL players have been training and playing in a pro style offense/defense for over two months. There is at least six games worth of film on most of them.

It would be foolish to not take a long look at a few of the better UFL players.

Can't hurt to take a look at them. Whats the worse that could happen???

You know I was against these types of science experiments for diamonds in the rough, but at this point in the season and how bad we need a wideout. WHAT THE HELL!

Wow, I'm called out for mocking during your informed, good point... :ponder:

IT has always been the UFL thing to be a feeder system to the NFL. We have offical minor leagues for hockey and baseball. why not football?
