Considering Ronnie's soon to be contract, can we afford a highly picked QB next season?

Wouldnt it be a Colts-like situation where the Defense or other positions would suffer with MOST of the money being tied up at QB/RB?

Id like to get a Leinart type guy in, but at what cost.. Fixing the QB dillema shall be difficult.. Its not looking like anyone we have now is a long term solution.

3 solutions imo..
-Draft a BluChip Prospect high in the draft.
-Trade for Rivers/Brees
-Try to sign a FA with longterm potential

this team is going noplace until it pony's up some money on a LEGIT QB.

Enough of the trying to get by with Fiedler, Feeley, and Gus types.

This isnt' Saban's falut, its only his first year. But he MUST go out and get a Top Flight QUARTERBACK and spend the money at any and all costs. If that means we lose Madison or Zach.......so be it.

You cant win in this league without a QB.

Probably true.. Even though Manning doesnt make the big one, he is still close every year..

The good teams have good to great QB's (McNabb, Brady, Vick(playoff record is impressive), Manning, etc...)

What the Ravens and Bucs did is almost impossible to duplicate. Gotta have a QB. In the playoffs your QB must win you 1 game. Period, no debate over that.

i really hope that instead of trading madison or zach we trade 3 wrs for drew bress or rivers then the bolts would be better and so would we because here is how i would like to see it unfold.
at wrs we keep . welker
gillmore
boston
chambers
and mann
at te we keep
randy, perry ,raider, and diamond

at rb we should keep ricky , brown, kay-jay and evans.

Forget about Leinart. Our pick will not be high enough and Saban won't waste picks to move up. Also he will get more money than Alex Smith which is insane. I do think we have a shot at a QB like Omar Jacobs in the 10-20 range of the first round.

I agree. My question is..do we draft him....or trade for one. Im more inclined to trade for one. I would like to see a Phillip Rivers trade to be honest...and it would be great to see it done soon..so he can start learning the offense now. I wouldnt even begin to imagine how this could be done..or if its even possible. You wont hear any dumb trade scenarios out of me..but I would like to see Miami at least explore the possibility. We are looking at 2-3 years minimum by drafting a rookie. I wouldnt want to wait for that..but thats just me.

Neither Feeley or Gus are the answer. Period.

We maybe have two outstanding RB's we know Ricky can run the ball his #'s with us are the best #'s that i've ever seen in the 38 years i've been a Phan. It's up to Ronnie in the first four weeks when Rickys sitting. He has to win the job. If not ricky will get time and I think this guy is still the real deal and can run run run, 6.5 yards per carry tonight, 6 for 39 yards.

I agree, though if Omar Jacobs has another 40 TD's and 5 INT's season, he'd be just as high as Leinart, if not taken before him, say Jacobs 1, Leinart 2. It can happen.

I agree..somewhat. You need a QB who can make plays and not lose you games. There comes a time in a game where a throw on a certain down in a certain situation can win you the game. You need a guy who can make that thow on a consistent basis. I dont think you need to put your salary to hell by trying to get that guy. It takes a TEAM to win a SB. A QB is very important and while I agree that we need better than what we have on our roster right now, I don't feel the need to overspend just for the sake of overspending. I would say that Manning, McNabb and Culpepper are all better QB's than Brady. Who in here would not take those three over him? Individually they are more talented than Tom, but Tom is on a better team, in a better system. That's what seperates him.
