My question involves naming any player on this current team that performs when needed most and has altered the outcome of games (ex...from years past Marino, Clayton, Offerdahl).
My point is while Jt and Zach are great, at the end of games when we need 1 player offensively or defensively to make a play consistently it just doesnt happen. Its been years where we had a dolphin that you could count on at the end of every game to be a difference maker. While we have good players on this team, I don't think we have the attitude as in years past (cox, Mcduffie etc).
I dont think most of us realized how screwed the past regime left us!!!!!!:yell:

IMO right now the closest thing to clutch we have is Wes Welker. However Ronnie Brown could be soon.

While I agree with your statement about the position in which the last "regime" left us, I have to disagree on your clutch player assessment. Indeed Zach is the one I would choose. I feel that when I watch him play, he is giving 100% all the time and gets the job done. Look at his solo tackle and assists record. That is said with respect to the same situation all of the other players you mentioned left us in, which is - well we only went to the Super Bowl how many times since 1984?

Of course that's just my 2 cents

olindo and wes

Everytime we have a third down Wes is who we want to throw to, he has proven to make clutch catches.

Its a team game. You can take away a teams best players. Winning in the NFL is about your weakest links, more so than your strongest.

Marino was great, however, the entire offense was designed to be a passing offense to support him. We didnt have terrible OL, RBs that couldnt catch, WRs that sucked. You need the guys around you to be strong players too.

Our team is bad because our weakest positions are the most CRITICAL positions on the field. CB, QB, OL.

Those positions are among the most important on the field. A bad QB can mess up a good offense (look at the bills this year) a bad CB can destroy a good defense.

That is the position we find ourselves in. In order to have 'clutch' players, you need to have strong players around them that arent victimized at key times in the game.

agreed, right now wes is the only one that's stepping up when needed

Other than kickers, I don't believe in clutch in football. Clutch is only a baseball thing to me, maybe a basketball thing.
