Pat White is not our future QB. He's a Wildcat QB, who will also form all kinds of formations you've never dreamed of.

Henne is our future QB, even though Pat White(44) was taken before Henne(57), Henne is the prototypical pocket passer you need to win a Super Bowl.
This season, Henne will have to be listed as our 3rd QB, otherwise we will have to activate 3 QBs per game. If Pennington gets hurt, you want Henne to replace him, but you also want White active each game for the WildPat formations. Having 3 active QB's is not smart and i think Henne will be on the bench, but only because he knows he's the starting QB next season, and if Pennington went down during a game, White may have to serve as the QB, but you can bet Henne is starting the next game, with White resuming his active 2nd QB status.
Thats why 2010 and beyond will be cool, we'll have 2 active QB's active, playing each game in White/Henne. Hopefully Henne deals with White's future stardom, if White becomes a star that is. Man imagine if both were nasty, and they both wanted number 1 QB type deals, and we gotta put bunch of money together for them in 4 years. That will be interesting to see. White is a luxury, and with some luck and good coaching, this kid has an opertunity to change NFL offenses as we know them.

Paul Soliai is our future NT, rather he is being given a chance this season to take fergy's job. No doubt a replacement is needed, but this might be his last year, and if you wanted a new NT you would have drafted him so he could learn from Fergy. I think Soliai improved GREATLY toward the end of the season, and expect him to be a good story this year. Tons of potential, he's our future, stop whining.

WR's, fact is no one is safe, except Ginn, even though half of you guys would trade him at this point, he's our best receiver and we need his down field ability. White might actually be able to give Ginn some nice Bombs... WOOO i can see it now...

Yeah, Turner and Hartline were reaches, but at least one possesion WR will work out, right? They better. I'll admit i was suprised with the Hartline pick, just cuz i think no way they cut a 3rd or 4th rounder in camp. Bess/Camarillo/London, one will be gone. Wilford should be gone too.

Argue if you want.

Just because a good QB was drafted in 2008(henne) it doesn't mean that a better one can't come around in 2009(possibly White). Can't we just agree anything is possible let it play out?

Yeah that^^^ I am all for the best all around quarterback playing. No matter who it is.

I agree with you fully on Pat White not being brought in to start... right away. If he some how blows everyone away then pencil him in for starting QB. But, IMO he will be the wild cat QB, a spread offense QB, a player you can line up every where on the field that defenses need to account for all the time because the possibilities are endless. He will most likely take 7-10 snaps a game as the QB, whether it is as a traditional QB in a pro style formation, the wild cat or spread. He will also be in the slot and as RB just to give the team more versatile... I can not wait.

However there is nothing saying the Fins can not activate 3 QB's yes it takes away from another active spot, but if Penny goes down in the first, I think it would be better to have Henner come in to finish the whole game so you can still use Pat White in every other formation.

I really don't see how a guy who they say is 6ft (don't beleive that) and under 200 pounds can survive as a full time QB in today's NFL.

Pat White has looked good this year. I think he is a better QB than many people think. Let the competition begin...

I think Henne will have the edge though because he is used to being a pocket passer...but don't be surprised that if White is a backup and gets a chance...he may never let the position go...

Especially if he takes off to run more than typical QB's. I do not think he has gone through a full season in college, keeping him to 7-10 snaps and up to 15 touches total in a game will limit his hits, and will keep defenses guessing but keep him fresh

Again I think this is a clasic example of parcells hedgeing his bets. first it was langford, merling, then we get the cornerbacks, and the qbs. The hope is that one of these guys will work out and lets be honest who really cares which one it is as long as at the end of the game the phins are in the lead.

took the words right out of my mouth... he'd get killed, I dont care how "tough" he is... Getting hit on your blindside by a college DE is much different than getting destroyed on your blindside by an NFL DE...

May the bext guy for the job win it.

The only thing I'll comment on is Wilford being cut and the over all feeling about our WR position.

Wilford, may just come out this year and perform like he has in the past. I don't know this obviously for sure but I heard that he was experiencing some personal issues last pre-season that filtered threw out the year. It didn't only effect him emotionally but physically also.

Late in the season last year he came along a little bit and I wonder if that may continue.

Now, adding the WR we did was done to create a little old fashion compition at that spot. We need to create a spark there......look what happened to Camarillo, Bess last year.

This will only help.

That job may switch back and forth a number of times between those two guys for all we know. If the two Chads go down then we have to have a 3rd string QB ready to go. (someone better than our last 3rd string qb). ;)

I guess the 6-foot tall Drew Brees just missing Marino's record last year in the last play of the season didn't happen and ESPN faked the highlights.

Especially if he takes off to run more than typical QB's.

QB's get hurt at a much higher frequency by staying in the pocket as opposed to running. Someone did a study on it and the numbers are so far apart that you don't have to worry about a running QB getting hurt nearly as much as worrying about a pocket passer getting hurt.

for me, it isnt so much the 6 foot thing that bothers me, its the fact he weighs like 197

Everyone compares him to Drew Brees... I know that Drew Brees is 6 foot I know he is shorter, but I don't care how small he is he could be 5'5 but if he is built like a house I am not concerned about him getting hit. The height has to do with finding passing lanes, and this is not what is be argueed. Everyone thinks they have the best come back with the Drew Brees comment but its not the same.

That study is a little bit off, the scramble QB is a rare breed therefore the frequency is much less. But I am not talking about White scrambling out of the pocket to throw, I am talking about taking off down the field to creat plays with his feet. Gurantee he gets hit more doing that than as a drop back QB.
