th our O-line would be very vry very physical

with Shelton James Hadnot Carey and Ashworth!!!

Ashworth is not probably going to be signed to play LT if anything he will play RT and yes I think we could sign both of them. Would make a very nice line and probaly move carey to guard. Would add some depth and we would be able to use our 1st pick on a Defensive player or BPA

i never thought about that...i like ur way of thinking....Hadnot can move to Center, Carey to Guard??? Can Vernon Carey play guard???? and then LG is kept by Jeno James......seriously im not a fan of Jeno, he gets knocked over a lot. Id rather set our offensive line and either cut Jeno, move Hadnot to LG, and then sign someone like Mawae or Mitchell, or hell, even Faine.

Although I am a fan of Ashworth, let's not become the Redskins here. If he's at the right price, sure go for it. But let's not get Dan Synderitis and go attempt, stress "attempt", to buy a Super Bowl. Notice how well that's worked out for him. We've all seen what a great judge of talent Saban is from his draft picks so I put trust in acquiring a few key, affordable free agents, then going to the draft for others. Just my two cents.

true, but this way we are settling our O-line issues for the next 6-8 years. Therefore with our first pick, we can possibly nab someone like Chad Greenway to play 3-4 beside Zach. OR we can nab Jimmy Williams to boost our CB unit....instead of going for an O-lineman.

Poor Anthony Alabi must be thinking, "what am i doing here??"

Shelton is a 7 year veteran - that puts him 6 years ahead of Alabi. Alabi is and always has been a project in the making so he has at least another year or two of development. He should be competitive in another year (no one would want Alabi starting this year). So, this is ideal. We have a guy who has potential as a backup and may compete as a starter in 2 years. That's also about the time that a Shelton contract would start to get expensive.

Shelton is not a stud, but a better option than anything we've had at LT since Richmond Webb left. He's really the 1st pure LT since Webb.

Of course he can play guard. Any tackle can play guard; you need much more talent to play tackle. But, Carey played both guard and tackle at Miami.

I am not sure I would say any Tackle can play guard, But Yes Carey can play guard. I don't see any reason other than him playing tackle this year why he does not play guard.

I'd really love to have Kevin Mawae (Spell?). I know that he is aging, but many people seem to forget who our starting center is. Even though he had a ok year last year that is still a position that we could use a big upgrade.

Well I don't know if your talking about McKinney or Hadnot? McKinney is not with the Dolphins any more he left and is now a FA. I would like Mawae, But he might cost too much and I am perfectly heppy having Hadnot play Center and signing someone cheap to back him up.

Carey played RG at "Tha U" and it was WannSpiel who projected him as a tackle. He definitely has the bulk to play inside.

If we get Shelton and Ashworth we may not need to get FA center. We can address any other OL needs in the draft.

It's possible we sign both, but Shelton is a replacement for Big Mac. That technically leaves the C/RG spot in limbo...As others have said, if Ashworth is signed, they could move Carey to RG and leave Hadnot at C. That would be a pretty decent lineup...

However, Shelton is a much better LT than Ashworth. Perhaps they were looking at Ashworth to be a LT, which is not really his best position. My guess is that they won't sign both. Carey is a good RT. Weak guards are easier to hide than weak tackles. I don't think they really want to move Carey around. He seems to take poorly to change. I'd rather see us go after Mitchell or Maywae at center and leave Hadnot at RG with Shelton and Carey at the tackles. Maywae (sp) would only be a temp fix due to his age.

Either way they go, it frees up the first and second picks to be DBs or a LB that may fall to our spot. Going after a guard or center later in the draft is not the worst way to go...

if we get Ashworth and Sheldon and maybe draft a center (even though I think we could make it if we move hadnot to center) this line looks pretty good. Anyway it does look a lot better than 2 years ago when I started crying just looking at our line.

I'm sorry, but LJ Shelton is a dog. Barely better than McDougle. He's huge, and powerful, but he's a one-dimensional (run blocking) tackle who has washed out for two bad teams. Plus, he's lazy.

A scouting guide I have lists him as the 82nd best tackle in football. "A nonfactor at the second level and struggles badly in space. Has a history of lackluster play and injuries."
