with Shelton James Hadnot Carey and Ashworth!!!
FinsFanLuke said:Although I am a fan of Ashworth, let's not become the Redskins here. If he's at the right price, sure go for it. But let's not get Dan Synderitis and go attempt, stress "attempt", to buy a Super Bowl. We've all seen how well that's worked out for him. We've all seen what a great judge of talent Saban is from his draft picks so I put trust in acquiring a few key, affordable free agents, then going to the draft for others. Just my two cents.

late again said:Of course he can play guard. Any tackle can play guard; you need much more talent to play tackle. But, Carey played both guard and tackle at Miami.

Da 'Fins said:Shelton is a 7 year veteran - that puts him 6 years ahead of Alabi. Alabi is and always has been a project in the making so he has at least another year or two of development. He should be competitive in another year (no one would want Alabi starting this year). So, this is ideal. We have a guy who has potential as a backup and may compete as a starter in 2 years. That's also about the time that a Shelton contract would start to get expensive.
Shelton is not a stud, but a better option than anything we've had at LT since Richmond Webb left. He's really the 1st pure LT since Webb.
