I have seen a ton of posts on here regarding the health of C-Pep's knee. To be honest with you, I was more concerned with his inability to read defenses and check down to the 3rd or 4th options for a play, than I was his knee. I saw articles about his lack of field awareness while he was in Minnesota, but I was hoping that it was just sour grapes. I am starting to feel like those were legitimate concerns.

I felt that was the biggest contributor to him being sacked so often. If his first or 2nd option was covered, he pulled the ball down and then, because of his knee, he was sacked because he couldn't scramble. I am very concerned about this because I hope we do not put all of our eggs in this basket and find out later that he was a liability reading defenses. I hope I am wrong, but I taped all of our games this year and when I go back and look at them, I am not very encouraged.

i think we all can assume safely that his sucess in minnesota was because of his skills and not randy moss,he made that man for 6 years not the other way around

I have to agree here. I think teams can "fool" DC. Now that being said I also think his injury hurt him bad this year. He is not Carson Palmer. He does rely on his legs. So that being said not having that knee will hurt his game. But I still think he has issues reading a defense

I think it comes down to Culpepper's knee. If it rounds into form like the knees of several RBs, he'll be okay. If the knee doesn't allow him to be mobile QB Culpepper, he's going to be in trouble. I have no confidence in him learning to be a pocket QB even if he starts getting an extra second from an improved line.

I don't think it's he CAN'T read, it's just he's a slow reader. Give him 30 seconds and he'll figure it out. All he needs ta do now is find a league where he gets 30 seconds, or the speed to run around like vick and wait until he gets it. To bad neither will happen in the NFL.

You are correct to have concerns. That's all I will say about it.

It's my understanding that Matt Birk (Center) would call the coverage reads when they got to the line.

If you tell him that the count is on Two, he will ask which one?

You are right. Daunte's success depends on having an open receiver and his ability to buy time when there is not one. When his primary reciever is open (ie: Randy Moss), he is extremely accurate and effective. When he has to look elsewhere, he is not able to make decisions quick enough to stay in the pocket and throw. At 100% healthy, Daunte is very, very effective. Without his mobility, he is target practice when his primary receiver is covered. If there is ANY indication that he can't return 100%, we need to let him go now and move on.

You must be blind then because Culpepper was always checking down to Ronnie Brown and Wes Welker......look at their stats when Culpepper was playing..........
