Cap space available after free agency

Not bad however keep in mind that we will need about 6 million for the rookie pool and an additional 2-3 million to sign FA's mid-season due to injuries (if need be). If we do not sign anyone else, we will have around 8-10M to carry over into next year.

I'm a big fan of Matt Moore and love the fact we have him as our backup. I do however think now he is cap dead weight, I believe he gets 5.5 Mil. With the way the Patriots and Broncos have entered in a proverbial "Arms Race" we are falling further behind during the length of him contract anyway. There is a healthy market for QB's now and this might be a good time to move him.

We still got some holes to fill. Hickey is gonna have to have a great draft and lets hope some of the young guys step up maybe dallas thomas can fill the other guard spot who knows maybe wishful thinking

Now that most or all of the quality FA are gone seems that the fins are in a holding pattern waiting most likely for the next wave of players to be released after the draft. Since there are a primium amount of OL in the draft, theres probably a good chance that there will be some respectable players released for the taking down the road...atleast I hope....Still see us in the perpetual building mode for realistically we are not even a possible playoff team at this stage.....and with Ryan still a question mark it might not be a bad idea to focus on the ground game which they maybe doing...

I'm great with our recent additions, but I believe we need at least 1 more starter and 1 more backup on the OLine from FA. i like the Albert (need) and Smith (fit) signings. But I'm curious how much the FO has debated the idea of moving Pouncey to G and adding Zuttah, Mack or a C? Or maybe even moving Brenner to C permanently?

We need starters, depth and competition from the depth. I realize we must be diligent with our cap and can't spend like we're drunk, but I would think a quality C would be cheaper than a quality G. And we already have a quality G that's playing C. Seems financially it would be wiser to approach the problem in this manner. I'm not too concerned with Pouncey's desire to move. As far as I'm concerned he's in the dog house and isn't in a position to be making demands. He needs to prove his worth to us and tow the company line. In the long run, he benefits more financially by moving.

It might be a draft pick issue with Zuttah and Mack. But I can't imagine we could find a better solution in the draft for the same pick value. Considering we would net an All Pro C and move another great C to his better position where he has a chance to be an All Pro G.

What I do not want to happen is for us to go luxury shopping in the draft and ignore obvious holes that derail an entire season. Jordan was a luxury pick. Those 2 picks could have been used on the OLine and may have completely changed our year. We still have need based drafting to practice. I'm not saying don't draft BPA. But draft BPA in your need positions when appropriate. And don't forfeit valuable picks to select a player we don't need that won't contribute immediately. That is what I call a "luxury pick".

We can't afford luxury picks right now.

As per overthecap, our net cap cost for the rookie pol will be just under $2M. We cam comfortably spend another $10-12M, likely on a few 1 year deals where we get the cap space back next year.

I'd consider it if we needed the money but, as of now, we don't and there's no one left to spend it on. I would keep him unless we could get something into the season on a QB injury.

Our rookie pool is going to be about $4.8 million.

It will be more considering that $4.8M number was calculated when we had less than 51 players on our roster due to expiring contracts. As we add players and fill out 51 players under contract, that number should rise a bit.

There will likely be some decent training camp cuts, and we will be able to scoop a few of them up this year.

no, that figure includes 18m rollover from 2013, which does not rollover to 2015. we are near the 133m cap for 2014 and it is last year's rollover giving us the extra room for this year. in 2015 we wont have rollover and will need to be under the 140m estimated cap.
