Good afternoon all: :dolphins:

Just saw this tidbit of info while doing my usual surfing thru the NFL News and Rumor Sites.

Apparently, Dom Capers (Special Defensive Coach) called in former LB, Kevin Greene to come to Miami Dolphins camp and help out our LBs and DEs with tackling and sacking techniques.

Greene played for Capers in both Pittsburgh and Carolina. And he is ranked #3 all-time in sacks in the NFL.

For those wondering about Greene's trademark mullet...he still has the long blonde hair going. In fact, Matt Roth didn't even recognize him. he thought that Greene was "some surfer dude."

Looks like Capers is really trying to surround players with talented teachers.

I think that this is a perfect example of why so many people are high on Capers and he ability to mold a defense.

What do you guys think of this move? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sounds good to me!
I remember Kevin Green and I remember that he was a great player!

I think this is a good move... Greene played in this system and was successful in it. Additionally, he can provide alot of knowledge on how effective this style of defense can be... Greene played with alot of intensity during his tenure. Hopefully some of it will rub off...

is there writing on the wall here? a weak secondary can be helped with a good pass rush. is our pash rush in question here too?

This is another example of the Dolphins going above and beyond. I can't say enough about Saban bringing in 2 other head coaches for the team. I don't know if another coach around here would dare bring in someone who could possibly take their job. Greene was outstanding as a hybrid player in the 3-4 and he can only help our front 7s development.

We had the 2nd most sacks (49) in the NFL last year, so I don't think that's a problem. Stop drinking that hater-ade. I still don't see a problem with the secondary. If the 3rd and 4th stringers that got burned are actually in a regular season game, then I'll get worried. Our starters shut them out 10-0

I think its a good move, he was super intense.

Remember when he went after one of the coaches at Carolina. I think the coach was Kevin Steele, the DC or DL coach.

You're right. Steele was the DC in Carolina then. He's the LB coach/special assistant at FSU now.

we have a lot of talented, famous coaches. too many egos could be a problem

I'd have to disagree here. First, Greene was brought in as a special assistant to Capers, who he played under and has a relationship with. I don't see Greene making any waves in the coaching ranks. Lots of teams have old players in this type of position, it's a step towards a career in coaching. Secondly, I would wholeheartedly agree if this was still the WanSpeil regime, but Saban is a strong-willed dictator and I can't see something like his causing an issue. This can only help, imo.
