With it obvious that Damion McIntosh could not handle John Abraham, the Dolphins inserted Vernon Carey at left tackle.

And now, with Carey just called for a hold, we might see McIntosh back in LOL!

Musical freaking chairs...

Should make you relieved. Carey did an admirable job at RT on Shaun Ellis making him disappear in passrush before being replaced by Stockar McDougle in order to see if we'd have a viable tackle tandem in Carey-McDougle rather than McIntosh-Carey, and also to get a bigger push in the running game.

I think the coaches really have wanted the Carey-McDougle tandem all along and were just very disappointed by McDougle's lapses in concentration...which may have had something to do with his brother being shot.

Can you imagine what posters here would be saying about Tony Wise if he pulled nonsense like this? Rotating RTs for no apparent reason. Changing a guy from LT to RT, then back in the middle of the 4th quarter a month later.

Houck gets an automatic pass.

I don't mean to criticize Houck. He's working with very little talent, outmatched position after position. You couldn't fill every hole with limited resources last offseason.

But I'll continue to wonder how this team would look if we had drafted Cadillac instead of Ronnie and Khalif Barnes instead of Roth. That's not backfitting Monday morning quarterbacking. There were plenty of us here who wanted those guys, including a specific gleeful thread as Barnes slipped toward our pick at #46.

Carey is fine, it's our other tackle that are question marks. The coaching staff can't decide whether they want Stockar McDougle in at right tackle, or Damion McIntosh in at left tackle. They only know one thing, they want Vernon Carey in somewhere.

Exactly..

I see Carey's game play as a positive. He took Shaun Ellis completely out in pass rush, and that is why they moved him back to left tackle where he took on John Abraham and controlled him a heck of a lot better than Damion McIntosh had been doing.

Actually, Carey was benched in the third quarter and MacIntosh and McDougle were the tackles and then they brought Carey back in for MacIntosh in the 4th. McDougle looks to me like he can't play and MacIntosh was getting completely out-quicked by Abraham. We're in big trouble at tackle. I am still trying to figure out why they took Carey out. Anyone know?

Honestly I look at it this way. The impetus for moving Carey over to right tackle and bumping McIntosh up the depth chart was McDougle. Completely McDougle. I mean, yeah McIntosh had been having a good camp, but if you remember the move came after the Steelers game which was an AWFUL game for McDougle and Saban was absolutely FURIOUS.

But they got Stockar McDougle for a reason and it wasn't to have him sit on the bench. They still believe he has the potential to be our ideal right tackle if he just gets control of his concentration. So they are going to continue to give him chances to win BACK the starting right tackle job, and when/if he does that, I GUARANTEE that Vernon Carey will go back to left tackle and supplant Damion McIntosh.

All along they viewed the McIntosh-Carey tandem as temporary in nature, a message sent to Stockar McDougle to get him to straighten up and fly right. It does strike me as very wasteful to have McDougle sitting on the bench.

There is a possibility that the coaches feel Stockar's lapses in concentration were from his brother being shot. He looked like a great acquisition at RT during mini-camp and training camp until the preseason games started.

Ck has a point, McDougal was having a good off season, then his brother gets shot and he started to make mistakes. Saban will play the best man and I think that's a good thing. What I liked today was that we had options..and they were used. That's positive. Carey cut down Abams bull rushes if you'd note the game once Carey got on that side. I think Carey was taken out to go over the plays on the Left, because being inserted at the LT positon, he probably even watched Abrams a bit before he went against him, especially since he probably studied his side the whole week. If Stockar is on, and plays like he can, he and Carey are our best Tackle tantem...

Nobody is safe on the OL other than Carey IMO. I think Carey will be starting on the OL somewhere the entire time and would be very surprised to see otherwise, but the rest are all just very inconsistent.
