But former Browns scout Matt Williamson, of ESPN’s Scouts Inc., said, “Flynn worries me, considering what it’s going to cost in terms of the contract. Those guys like Kevin Kolb scare me. They look good in a really small sample size in good offenses.
“In terms of physical skills, there’s a reason Flynn was a seventh-round pick. He’s really cerebral, moves well, does everything well pre-snap. But he’s not overwhelming physically. He will be an average starter who maybe goes to a Pro Bowl once.”
Williamson see Flynn’s ceiling as that of Houston's Matt Schaub. If Flynn becomes another Schaub, he’s worth the investment. But CBS’ Charley Casserly said Flynn is “a little like Matt Cassel. Accurate, but not necessarily accurate deep. He doesn’t have a big arm.”

I completely agree with this analysis, I remember speaking to someone on this board and they insisted everyone except me thought Flynn could make ALL the throws, he's another Matt Moore, period!

He is better than Matt Moore. He might not be a top end QB but he is upper half and better than the Matt Moore types!

What are you basing this on? They are the same type of QB, weak arm and above average mobility... they almost remind me of Tim Tebow without the awkward throwing motion.

the concern i have with matt flynn is that his ceiling may not be good enough...i think williamson quoting his ceiling as that of matt schaub from a tools perspective makes sense...he's much more mobile than schaub but his arms not overwhelming by any means...at the same time though if we got a schaub like level qb out of flynn we'd be much better off than we've been the last decade at the position...

but the question becomes is matt schaub even good enough...and to that i have my doubts...can we get over the hump and be year in and year out contenders with a schaub like under center...ehhh

If he makes the pro bowl once how is that average? It's a good point, though. I said all along that if Peyton Manning is the Dolphins top choice that Joe Philibin (sp) doesn't believe Matt Flynn to be a franchise quarterback.

personally i think a better comparison for flynns upside is more along the lines of ryan fitzpatrick...i think tools wise they are very similar...and that concerns me no doubt...i hope if we do get flynn that he's a boom or bust guy...cause i don't want to sit on a guy long term who's middle of the road...

either be the **** or blow chunks...

I agree completely. The biggest thing is that Schaub seems to get hurt right when he starts looking really good. It would be really interesting to see what Schaub without the injury history looks like.

Good points. I think the upside with Flynn is that you don't have to give up draft picks and can focus on other areas in the draft. He obviously has done well in Philibin's system so get him some players and he could do the same here. The Dolphins are in a position to draft some offensive weapons.

Matt Flynn will cost too much money to have ANOTHER Matt Moore. I'm starting to lean more towards just gettin Peyton Manning if this team wants to spend alot of money on a free agent QB.

IMO the best option would be Jason Campbell; big arm, accurate, experience and mobile... he wouldn't cost nearly as much because he's under the radar, kinda like when New England got Randy Moss outta Oakland.

jason campbell is definitely not the long term answer...i would take a chance on flynn any day before i would bring in jason campbell to tread water...hell i'd stick with matt moore before i brought in jason campbell...thats called a lateral move

What are you basing this on? Because Campbell was in Washington and Oakland? Or is the race card a factor in this?

Derek Anderson made the pro bowl, and he isn't even average!

yeah buddy i'm anti black qb...me one of the biggest if not the biggest supporters on this forum of cam newton as the top pick in last years draft

its because campbell has had plenty of opportunities to show he's the man long term at qb in this league and done nothing with it...campbells pretty much a known quantity at this point flynn hasn't had aywhere near the opportunities campbell has...i'll side with the potential of the unknown quantity...

i know campbells not the answer...
