I like this. More competition can't hurt, and they must not like what they saw game 1 too much

This really makes it seem like that those comments about X not being good, Parker being mediocre, may have some coach buy in.

PFF ranks him as #59 in 2017, which would make him a poor #2 or a good #3, FWIW.

Bring on the competition. I was surprised they redskins didn’t bring him back especially after trading fuller. Can’t hurt especially if down lippett

Yeah, it's probably about the coaches not liking Tank, McTyer, or Lippett starting.
He's talking to at least three other teams, including the Patriots. He won't come cheap.

What is the extent of his foot injury? He was a pretty good corner coming out of Clemson and has been OK in the pros.

Breeland failed his physical having cut his foot while on a visit to the Dominican Republic that later became infected; the contract was therefore voided and he became a free agent again.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashaud_Breeland

He was thin coming out of Clemson and a step slow at 4.62. I would not think getting an infection from a cut would be something that a team would void a contract over unless your foot was going to be amputated..

This brings credence to the thought that CB is an area of concern.

Which is crazy because a few weeks ago most of us assumed CB to be a position of depth - several big potential guys fighting for the second spot. But obviously Lippett is still not close to 100% and Tank hasn’t stepped up as we all hoped he would.

He’s a solid player and he’d instantly be our 2nd starter.

In 2016 he had 71 tackles, 1 sack ,2 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions in 14 games
his play fell off last season, not sure if he was banged up or what the reason was.

Over four seasons in D.C., Breeland recorded 270 combined tackles, 60 passes defended, eight interceptions and seven forced fumbles.

He was 6th highest rated in man coverage a couple seasons ago on PFF. Not as highly rated in zone.

PFF has him as a tik below mediocre and my opinion of him is much less.

He is asking for a big multi-year contract.

All of you fans that railed against the Cutler deal because it ate up our rollover...where are you now?

This isn't a cheap 1 year deal to add competition, WTH are you thinking??

Even if he goes with a one year prove it deal, it won't be with a team projected to be a bottom dweller.

There shouldn't be a visit. If the Dolphins do make an offer, he will only use it to negotiate with another team.

All this hoopla and the guy sucks. He is a #3 or #4 at best.

They should've drafted Tre'Davious White in the 1st round last year instead of Charles "Dark Place" Harris.

    That's where they screwed up.

Are the Dolphins doing their due diligence or is this a position of need? I was under the impression that we were more than set at CB.

You were under the wrong impression. It’s been more than understood that the roster for the second CB spot is failing.! Breeland is probably better than anything we have at the position and he isn’t even that good

Tony Lippett is hurt, and not coming back as quick as we hoped. Tank has not taking the step forward expected from 2nd year 3rd round pick. McTyler, although giving the effort, and being better than Tank, is limited.

Breeland would be our #2 instantly. This isn’t about competition. This is about signing a starter, and really rounding out a very good unit. I didn’t scout the player or watch the redskins a lot, but I can read between the lines. The dude had 19 passes defensed last year. That is one less than X and Tank combined, 13 for X 1 for Tank. The Panthers were going to give him 8 million per season before it was revealed he needed a skin graft. I hope we sign him today.

Once again Armando was plugged in on the team thoughts of adding another CB, even though it took alot of us as a slight surprise.

Lots of red flags with this guy. But, the Dolphins defensive backfield made all of the Bucs QB's look like All Pros.

The Dolphins shouldnt be in this situation. This sucks.

I dont want to see the highest paid slot cb in the nfl moved out of the slot, but I imagine the Redskins didnt let this guy leave because he was playing at a super high level?

He's not the highest paid slot how many times do we have to say lol and like fsu said before Chris Harris plays slot and boundary. Minkah was the best slot in the country. The key to being a good defense is versatility. If the offense doesn't know who is lining up where they are at a disadvantage

Lets see if this D is capale of lining up correctly and completing basic tackles before they worry about versatility and other buzz words.

Does Chris Harris play for the Dolphins? I thought we had Bobby McCain?

McCain played boundary last season 20% of the time and the stats prove he did well. I don't get the issue

Main reason Minkah lined up in the slot at Alabama in 5+ DB packages was so he could communicate better with the D-Line and set the front. In addition to communicating with the rest of the secondary and linebackers.

I'd look for his role to be similar with the Dolphins.

McMillan is also good at lining up the defense, but they are young so we'll need a little time. There's plenty of hope for the future

I think there is more concerns or chatter about Howard with the fans, not the coaches.

Both players Howard and Parker will be a big part of the 2018 season.
