Redskins informed CB Shawn Springs of his release.
The Skins unsurprisingly found no takers in a trade for the 34-year-old. Springs can still play, but GM Vinny Cerrato tipped his hand by immediately putting him on the block after re-signing DeAngelo Hall. At that point Springs' release had become inevitable and nobody would have given up a pick for him. Hall and Carlos Rogers will be Washington's starting corners in 2009. The Saints and old DC Gregg Williams figure to show interest in Springs.

Umm... Surtain couldnt get on the field in KC, while Springs contributed significantly in DC. Surtain was beat out by undrafted free agents and guys off the street, while Springs took playing time from former first round pick Carlos Rogers.

He is old and going to be semi-pricey.

I could see him as a panic mode signing for us if we get no able body CB's in FA or the draft. Doubt he lasts that long though, and I doubt Parcells has a panic mode.
Plus the FO would never whiff on all CB's. So in other words, no.

ive watched tons of skins games and springs, when in, can play. but hes often injured and very old. hes gunna want more money than an old injury prone corner should get. i say pass. no need for the oldest cb tandem in the leauge
