Miami adds free-agent safety Knight to star-studded defense
The Dolphins' signing of Pro Bowl defenders continues.
SportsLine.com has learned Miami has agreed on a multi-year deal with former Saints safety Sammy Knight. The deal, signed late Monday night, includes a $300,000 signing bonus.
Knight, a former undrafted rookie free agent who eventually blossomed into one of the Saints' best defenders, has had very little play in the free-agent market this offseason.
In six previous seasons, the former Southern California Trojan has proven a keen sense of being at the right place at the right time as he has grabbed 28 interceptions -- five times getting five or more picks in a season.
This offseason the Dolphins re-signed their own Pro Bowler in Zach Thomas and last month swung a deal to land future Hall of Famer Junior Seau.
The addition of Knight in a very cap-friendly deal will add more depth and experience to an already formidable defensive unit.
