CBS Sports: Overrated and Underrated Players

Overrated: OLB Joey Porter. He has been more bark than bite for the past couple of seasons. In 2007, there wasn't even much barking.

Underrated: CB Will Allen. He was the team's most consistent cover player the past two seasons. He might not be Pro Bowl caliber, but he's just under it.

Although I was hoping to see Ronnie Brown here, I was pleasantly surprised for them to say that Will Allen is "just under" Pro Bowl caliber. I hope he can show more of that this year in a struggling defensive back unit. I have no arguments on the call of Joey Porter. I've always seen him as an overrated player.

I wanted him in the offseason, but not for the 22 million garuanteed he got... waaay overpaid
 
Now let's just hope that Will Allen is wearing an Aqua and Orange uniform rather than a plain orange jump suit this season.

If only will allen could catch the INT's he drops he would be a top 10 corner in this league easily. One of the best covering, pass defending, blitzing corners in the league... and thats being realistic without drinking any koolaid
 
It's a little too early to say Joey Porter is overrated. He was used so horribly last season, I'm willing to give him another shot under the new regime.
 
i would have put fb reagan Mauia as overrated and ronnie brown as underrated.
did anyone notied tha prisco put offensive players as overrated and defensive players as underrated ?
 
Joey has always been way overrated. But he is our overrated guy now now lol
 
will allen isn't that good...the guy cant catch a cold and his ball skill when the ball is in the air are questionable at best.
 
Porter isn't horrible, or bad at all, but i dont think he's this great all-pro linebacker a lot of people have made him out to be and sometimes still do, and i never really liked the idea of bringing him in. He is over rated.
 
Joey Porter I agree with.

Will Allen is average, and that's what he's always been rated as. He makes up for his hands of stone with pretty solid coverage, but put him on a guy with any speed and he'll get torched. He's like Sam Madison the last couple years he played for us.
 
Who rates reagan mauia as any good? Don't you have to be rated to be overrated?
