Posted in another thread, but thought ya'll may want to take another look at the young safety and see what makes him intriguing. ALso see why I think he compares favorably to a young LOuis Delmas. Still very raw but talent is there.
 
I like the fundamental tackling skills. Wraps up really well. Solid in the open field as well. He showed a pretty decent recovery speed a couple plays.

Will be nice not to see #98 taking snaps this fall.
 
That is actual game film the coaches use...****ing great find...
 
Ha ha first play is an absolutely terrible play by the qb...throws a man cross route vs zone

Actually my bad qb got hit on the release which effected the trajectory

from the highlight films above i watched.... i like his athletic ability, can go with acceleration and has very nice range, has strength to tackle and seems to cover solid intermediately. very knowledgeable and stays in his positions responsibility, seems to be a leader.

these were my thoughts below from the game film i watched first of him:


FS- Cedric Thompson: struggles with consistent awareness and play recognition, seems slow to decipher and takes poor angles into blocks and towards the ball. He does seem disciplined into his assignment, can cover, but leaves too much room he needs to make up when in coverage. He has good size and seems to have good strength. He has speed but doesnt use it well due to his poor angles and recognition i believe. He turns and moves pretty well, and seems to stick his nose in against the run and tackling. needs work fully wrapping up, and breaking down when tackling, but can stick it!!!
 
Hey now this kids impressive...looks the part of a free safety...unlike walt aikens who was a stiff hipped corner playing safety due to our scheme...this kids making the 53

Like his awareness and his quick acceleration and hes physical like a safety...i could see that starting at free as a rookie even...

Eye opener right here
 
Hope be can develop nicely into a solid starter next to reshad. Like that he has some speed and quickness

just making sure you did realize that it might be one terrific play after another due to it being a highlight gathering of his game films!!!
 
Yeah i figured that...but what he does on those plays shows everything i want to see...zone awareness check box run fill check quick acceleration check man coverage check awareness run and pass check tackling check

Theres nothing 5th round about this unless hes undersized and he doesnt look it...that looks like nfl starter free safety...hes easily the best player on the screen most of those highlights...hips are fluid shows explosive back foot in the ground and fire forward abilities...looks the part

His angles could be better on a few things but that quick acceleration allows him to meet the ball...you coach that positioning up and yeah nfl starting free safety...

Also if i got a 30 minute tape of nothing but highlights of a safety im freaking impressed

naw he has good size... i really did like his acceleration and burst too... nice range. in his game film its his overall consistency on some of those things i noticed... so just work to do on all that. definitely has ability to develop though and could work his way in... but i think may need time. not sure if start right away this year. but good promise, especially for in the 5th round!!!

6' 208

From his pro-day
40-yard dash: 4.5 and 4.48 seconds
Vertical jump: 40 1/2 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet, 2 inches
Short shuttle: 4.28 seconds
3-cone: 6.96 seconds
Bench: 21 reps of 225 pounds
 
Terrific numbers that will start at free safety for miami if not some point in 2015 by 2016...you can book that

We stole one there...that kids legit...

love your excitement on him.... and yeah his pro day brought him out. i guess he wasnt invited to senior bowl or combine is what i heard.

great get in the 5th!!!


what do you think he needs to develop more and work on more??? especially heading into the NFL
 
I dont see much that needs work these are just highlights...need to review a full game...but thats a difference maker at safety...you dont make that many plays and not have real talent...

I will even say if they cut delmas in camp so this kid could start would i be shocked? Nope...he better hurry back from that acl i will tell you that cause this kids gonna pop off the screen on coaches tape during camp and preseason evaluations
