Surely with 1b or 1c or even 2a we nab ourselves some Oline help. There doesn't seem a lot of value there at tackle unless someone slips, I'm really not sold personally on the Bama guys, think they could both use another year in college. Center seems the way too go for me with one of these picks, one or both of Humprey and Biadasz, could be in that range. I've no real idea of how to evaluate Oline play, so asking here who folks think we should target around the low first, high second range. I've made the effort to watch both these guys in recent games closely and I've been way more impressed with Biadasz, but like I said I have no clue really what I'm looking for.

these two are by far the best in my opinion. Can't go wrong with either. My hopes in the first round we grab one with our c pick. I like Humphreys but have no problem pairing dieter back up with Baidasz.

I had my eyes on Biadisz all game vs Minnesota. If we took him with 1C, I would be thrilled.
And I generally think it's a bad idea to draft a center(Or a RB) in round 1.
He just mauled vs Minnesota.
Another Center I am curious about is Harris from Washington. I watched him closely for 2 games, and he does a good job. Wondering if he would be a good one, though I think I saw he has short arms. But he is a baller. And supposedly an awesome leader.

If we're just talking about NEED and we're forgetting for now about the players in the draft...the TACKLE position is utmost.

Every week we watch that position be an absolute mess both at left tackle and right tackle. The entire line is bad. But those tackles cannot be trusted whatsoever.

Agreed... Our Tackles are bad... very, very bad.

I won't be surprised if we take an OLT AND a Center in the first round.

That said, either of the top two Center candidates with 1c would be a credible selection.

I like Humphrey but I also like Boehm at Center. I'd try to upgrade the OT position first in free agency if possible and if not then I'd draft at least one OT.

Oline needs a complete overhaul. Most disappointing aspect of this season is failure to have drafted or signed a legitimate +starter.
I maintain we have to overpay Scherff or Thuney.
If Tua is healthy he is my pick Rd1 pick 1. If Tua suffers a setback - I wouldn’t hesitate to draft the Georgia LT and followup with Humphrey or BiadIsz -

Pretty close to my thinking as well. I think if Tua suffers a setback, I go Herbert with the first #1. His upside is tremendous and I think this coaching staff can develop him.

That said, Thomas is a nice player and a foundational type pick. Maybe Love or Hurts with 1b???

Don't think anyone is arguing against that. And that's not the purpose of this thread. Asking about the centers here. As for the OT's outside of Wirfs and the Thomas, which we would have to use our 1a on, is there anyone outside those two that are worth 1b or c ? What do you think of the two Bama tackles, are they worth it ?

Leatherwood was not only a 5 star recruit but the top OL of the 2018 recruiting class.

He was a 327 monster then. They slimmed him down to 305ish to play LT only to end up with a left handed QB and not get flipped over to RT.

He was also used all accross the OL in years prior this is literally his 1st year as a full-time starter at a set position. Because Jonah Williams.

IMO he's well worth the invesment and there's PLENTY left on the bone to coach up. Most athletic OT this year IMO.

Wills sucks, I don't buy the 2nd rd projection many give him.

I think he was the root of 'Bamas OL problems.

I wouldn't even keep him at OT. He's a RG and he will have to be retrained for the position because for some reason they thought it was a great idea to move AL around but Wills never played anything but RT.

I also don't like his on field demeanor. Lazy, complacent. He'll stand and watch waaaay too often for my taste. At RG at least he'd be continously getting mauled so he'd hopefully play with higher motor and intensity. Or maybe that's why they never played him inside.

Leatherwood is worth the 4th tackle spot taken and he has the highest ceiling in this class. Wills sucks and he's a late 4th rd guy you may have to put a lot of work into to even get ANYTHING in return from.

That's great insight, thanks for that man.

Is there any truck to the thought that Biadasz might help Dieter stabilise and improve, or am I clutching at straws?

Not at all. I don't doubt this will be a factor when it comes time to choose. Even a small clip showed dieter more comfortable w boem than Kilgore. Center is the anchor of the line and if we pair dieter back up with a talent he knows already like Baidasz will drastically improve his play.

I’m having a hard time getting a read on Creed In that offense, I’m more sure about the ceiling of Biadasz

I don't have trouble with Creed because I can just tell what a gifted player he is. Yes, I recognize there are certain things he's not asked to do very often and you'd like to know he can do those things. But I've seen the player, gotten a good feel for his physical gifts, and thus it's not a problem.

It's sort of like when I went on joking about how ridiculous Tacko Fall would be as a red zone specialist in the NFL and people would get all bent out of shape about it because he's never played before. Yeah that's true. He's also like 7'6", experienced on the court fighting for inbound passes from the low post, and a typical NFL defensive back would have to do a full standing vertical just to give Tacko a high-five. This isn't rocket science.
