CFL | R. Williams hopes to return soon
Fri, 15 Sep 2006 20:59:27 -0700
Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports CFL RB Ricky Williams (forearm) hopes to return from a fractured arm in time for his team's game Sept. 23.

Oh Good!

Hopefully we can get that whole "canadian football is superior to NFL FOOTBALL" crowd back over here. I miss them so much!

I was starting to wonder what was going on with him.

Much like luggage and herpes Ricky Williams does not go away.

Hey I am Canadian and I think the talent in the NFL absolutely blows away the talent in the CFL... HOWEVER, I also disputed the people that said Ricky would make the CFL game look easy and that he would "shatter" the rushing record... (2nd to last for rushing avg for any rb's that have rushed at least 50 times) Although I still thought he would be fighting for the rushing title

Ricky is old news for me, I really don't know if he'll actually come back and contribute for us or not. I think at this point he's more of a detriment than a positive for the Fins. Don't get me wrong, I like Ricky, but he's hurt this team so many times, I'm just tired of it. Such a wasted talent, could have been a HOF player, wasted his career. He really could have been special. But instead he's just wierd. He should become friends with Michael Jackson, they'd probably become close.

Great! Knock off the rust and get yourself ready for next year with us Rick. 2007 is the year we will be ready for the big dance and the Rickster, love him or hate him, will be a big part of the reason why.

He's dead to me (figuratively of course)

Ricky the Coach?

Williams has stated his love of Toronto, and the Canadian game, saying that after his contract with the Dolphins expires, a return to the CFL is a distinct possibility.[19] "I was thinking it wouldn't be bad to come back up here and kind of follow the same steps as Pinner -- play here a couple years and maybe get a chance to coach up here," Williams said. "Because I really like Toronto, I really like this organization ... you can live here, you know? You feel like you have a life. I come to work, I go home, play with my kid, walk to the store. It's really nice. I get to teach. It's wonderful here."[3]

It would be great if Ricky comes back and contributes to the team in 2007. At this point though, if you are counting on his contribution to the team, you could be in for the third (or fourth, 1 retirement and 2 suspensions already) time this guy has disappointed. As the saying goes: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Rickys take on the Steelers game....

"Williams said he had no problem watching the Dolphins open their season Thursday night losing a 28-17 decision to the Super Bowl-champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

"It wasn't difficult at all," he said. "I'm a person who lives in the moment and at the moment I'm here and they're there.

"I'm upset that they lost because I have a lot of friends on the team but it wasn't difficult for me to watch. People forget I actually retired, I walked away from football and then I came back. When I walked away I really left football. Now I've come back and it's just what I do. I'm not so attached to it anymore."

Just let the man go, he obviously isnt interested in playing for the Miami Dolphins from his comments, and aside from his one amazing year has been a very mediocre RB through his career

More likely, if Ricky comes back to the Fins, he'll probably get suspended again -- in the middle of the season or something.

I think Miami would do better to just release him and let some other team deal with his schnit. Al Davis might even give the Fins something for him; he likes players who are head cases.

When your second RB is Sammy Morris, Lee Suggs or Travis Minor, your team really isn't a Super Bowl contender -- and Ricky and the uncertainty of his status is the reason that Miami can't bring in a quality second RB. It's time to move on.
