So when Chad Johnson met with Philbin and Ireland there was an agreement that he would keep his nose clean and "one strike" he was gone. Well if you think about it he actually got 3 strikes.

Strike 1: During his live press conference he talked about going into porn and dropped the F-bomb on several occasions. That is no way to represent an organization and Philbin was not happy.

Strike 2: His Field performance. This does not reflect on Chad Johnson personally or off the field but it was probably weighed heavily on him being released. Johnson looked good in camp and he still had his quick first step off the line of scrimmage but he failed to deliver in live action. During the scrimmage he dropped a pass from Garrard that woulda been a TD. We all saw him drop the wide open slant in the preseason game as well. After the game there was some momentum among writers like hyde, kelly, and mando that if Johnson didn't pick it up then he might be in jeopardy. Johnson also had a problem with dropping the ball in camp when he was about to get hit.

Strike 3: The arrest. His off the field antics were not worth them keeping him around when his on the field talent was diminishing. If this was the chad johnson of 3-4 years ago then maybe u deal with it because he can give u the on the field production, but I highly doubt he would of been able to do that this year.

So everything combined I think Philbin made the right call and Johnson made his own bed with this one.

I have never seen an athlete, with the team backdrop behind them, be as crass as Johnson was on that presser.

That was uncalled for, and certainly doesn't characterize the Miami Dolphin brand with any dignity. I can assure you Philbin/Ross/Ireland were steaming after that performance.

Chad himself gave them every excuse to toss his sorry self to the curb.

He has no-one but himself to blame.

we knew what we were getting when we signed Johnson. should have never happened in first place.
Much like when we traded for Brandon MArshall we knew we were getting a bad egg but we traded for him anyway and then act suprised when he is the same person

he gets a strike for being old just because he was arrested? wow, philbin. that's harsh, bro. suppose you count his age against him because his age is against him? is that irrational?

The writing was on the wall when Brandon Marshall was traded. If Marshall in his prime was let go before the draft, what made Chad Johnson think that he could come here and act like a jacka$$ and stay on the team?

What? Who said anything about a strike for being old?

- Anyone who mouths off in a press conference, no matter what age, gets a strike.
- Anyone who stinks it up at practice, no matter what age, gets a strike.
- Anyone who get arrested for domestic dispute, no matter what age, gets a strike.

Its solid math.

I don't agree with the 2nd strike. You don't solidify a starting position "stinking" it up or dropping passes in practice / games. If that logic is true all of our young WRs have a strike then. However, I believe he deserved to be cut for the other two offences.

People keep saying Philbin is so old. The man is 51.

I still haven't gotten over how ancient he looks. I know this is off the topic, but check it out...

IMO, number 2 was the image he posted on Twitter giving the bird with both hands and writing the "F" word across the picture....AFTER...Philbin talked to him.

Thank you. I found no humour in it at all despite the reporters cackling like they were enjoying it. Hard Knocks or not he represented the organization at a press conference and embarrassed them and himself.

So people who are butthurt about Chad being cut, choose to defend him by saying Philbin looks old? I can see now why you would be upset. You have the same mentality as Johnson
