Diehard Phinatic!
So when Chad Johnson met with Philbin and Ireland there was an agreement that he would keep his nose clean and "one strike" he was gone. Well if you think about it he actually got 3 strikes.
Strike 1: During his live press conference he talked about going into porn and dropped the F-bomb on several occasions. That is no way to represent an organization and Philbin was not happy.
Strike 2: His Field performance. This does not reflect on Chad Johnson personally or off the field but it was probably weighed heavily on him being released. Johnson looked good in camp and he still had his quick first step off the line of scrimmage but he failed to deliver in live action. During the scrimmage he dropped a pass from Garrard that woulda been a TD. We all saw him drop the wide open slant in the preseason game as well. After the game there was some momentum among writers like hyde, kelly, and mando that if Johnson didn't pick it up then he might be in jeopardy. Johnson also had a problem with dropping the ball in camp when he was about to get hit.
Strike 3: The arrest. His off the field antics were not worth them keeping him around when his on the field talent was diminishing. If this was the chad johnson of 3-4 years ago then maybe u deal with it because he can give u the on the field production, but I highly doubt he would of been able to do that this year.
So everything combined I think Philbin made the right call and Johnson made his own bed with this one.
