Slow news day, but as this decade nears its end I've been reminiscing about the Dolphins 2010s, and it got me thinking about Ochocinco and what could've been. I remember for years him making it so obvious he wanted to be here, even while he was signed to Cincinnati.

Much like Frank Gore, I was so happy to see him finally make it here before his career was over. To me, there's nothing better than seeing a hometown guy, someone that grew up a fan, and really wants to be here, actually get to suit up for us. Unfortunately for Chad though, it was a very short ride. Because this offseason was documented on Hard Knocks, it maybe left us with more of an impression of him, to the point that I bet a lot of us have forgotten he only ever actually got to suit up as a Dolphin for one single game. A week 1 preseason loss, at home, against the Buccaneers on 8/10/2012.

Despite his flaws, and his tumultuous exit from the Phins, the fact that he is still such an outspoken homer to this day, I can't help but love the guy: https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/2...chad-johnson-has-a-bold-take-on-the-dolphins/

If I could change the past, he'd definitely be on my fantasy roster.

Wasnt he cut for beating his wife? Or am I mixing up my timeline? Slightly different standards if so!

Damn, I dont remember. I didnt think Ocho did anything like that, I could be wrong though.

I thought Philbin got upset with him wanting to be called our #1 receiver, and cursing, and not picking up trash off the floor....lol

It was a couple of things, he'd had a very outspoken press conference dropping a bunch of F bomb, Philbin told him the behavior was unacceptable. Then shortly after, he got into an argument with his wife who apparently found a receipt for a box of condoms, it got heated and he head butted her and was arrested, upon his release the following day Philbin brought him in and basically told him, that he just didn't feel like it was gonna work out between him and the organization, and that was that.

I'm far from one to defend domestic violence, but I do think there should be a consistent league protocol for handling these situations. Every year we hear about this stuff, over and over, and some guys go back to the team the next day like nothing happened, and others are cut immediately. Not necessarily in this instance, but just in a hypothetical situation, I wish it could've worked out different for Chad and the Dolphins.

Here's the video of Philbin releasing him for those that have never seen it, Hard Knocks was really an incredible insight into the mechanics of the front office at the time:

He was washed up by the time he was picked up by the Dolphins and he beat his wife. Obviously it is a slow news day for the Dolphins if you are writing about this dirtbag.

Wherever he is or should be (jail), he's open.

No more Divas plz -no matter how good they are they arent team players.
(Yes if they can change)

Woman beater, one and done gtfo!

The NFL can have whatever policy they want, but as his employer, the Dolphins can cut him for the very valid reason that he beat his wife, so long as they abide by the terms of his contract.
