Which quarterback (Henne or Beck) is more Pennington-like and why? Experience exempt...I'm talking on the field passer (talent) and smarts.

Tough question, neither has had the chance to play much. Both had pretty impressive college careers. Both posted real nice numbers at the NCAA level. I don't think Henne was considered a team leader at Michigan though.

4 year starter at Michigan bodes well for him as a team leader i would think...plus i think Henne's the QB our FO is banking on taking over when the time's right...

I think Pennington is more like Beck, only obviously much, much, much better. :D

Seriously, Henne is a strong arm QB. He seems to be more of a brash, ****y, bad-arse type QB, whereas Pennington is more of a cerebral type QB.

Beck has really lucked out getting to learn behind Pennington for a year. I feel that Henne would have been able to deal with the pressure & done as well as a rookie QB is expected without Pennington around. Beck seems to need much more confidence building, Henne seems to exude confidence IMO.

I'm going off reports that Henne wasn't named team captain because he never really embrased the role.

That is the total opposite of what I read. He was named the starter in high school while he was still in jr hs. He has been a starter all his life.

I remember the local media writing about what a difference there was just hearing him bark out the calls in the huddle compared to Beck.

I would say neither. All three fairly differant qb's all with some good attributes.

So which would be best for our offensive, a Henne type QB or a cerebral type?

If you are forced to ask yourself that question you should also ask- who turns the ball over the fewest amount of times. At that point you have a very CLEAR answer.

The offense is catered to whoever the QB is. Didn't you notice in preseason when they put Henne in, how they immediately started calling deeper pass routes?

For the team we had last year Pennington is probably better I think because we still don't really have 3 starting, NFL calibre WRs. Give Bess, Camarillo, & Ginn another year of experience and add another 'blue chip' WR & they may want to get more ambitious with their starter.

John Beck is Chad Pennington sans the talent. John works hard, likes to study, and do all of things that Chad does. Again the one BIG difference between Beck and Pennington, is that Penny has talent, Beck does not.

Would you guys be (overly or mildly) surprised if Beck gets the nod for second string quarterback next year? If so, why?

Except for the whole- turning the ball over twice as much as pennington then you may have a point.

:woot:

Only if Henne is injured in some horrible accident.

I think Beck will be in Dallas.
