I'm trying to get a grip on exactly why Chambers' stats are so mediocre this year and I came to a few conclusions but I still need some help. I know that our o-line has given up a lot of pressure on the qb which makes it difficult to get him the ball. (especially on deep routes) I know he has dropped a couple of passes but I don't think he has dropped anywhere near the amount that he has in past years. Sometimes I wonder about his ability to run routes and get open but I really thought that route running was one of his strengths. I also think there is a serious problem with play calling/qb play and I was wondering if anyone knows exactly how many times Chambers has had the ball thrown to him this year. I really don't think it is nearly a much as it should be and it is probably a main factor for his poor year. Chambers should probably be seeing as many passes thrown his way as any reciever in the game, especially since the rest of our offensive players seem to be failing miserably. Thanks for any help.

well if you look at his stats last year after 6 games i think he's off to a better start this season.
He's in the top 15 in WR receptions..... only his yardage is sub-par right now. He's on pace for 72 receptions and 8 TDs, but at only 10 ypc..... you know his production will improve as the season progresses... so i would hafta say he's on his way to another pro-bowl caliber season.

chambers is extremely overrated. he makes incredible plays but can't make the clutch catch. he is not worth the $30 mil he is getting. he is a very good #2. his play shows it.

Chambers has been Thrown to Just as Much or More than other Top WRs...

I have your answer to how many times he has been thrown to, not sure but probably all those reasons as to why he has not made the catches. Also CC has always had an issue about route running, he has been know to have a problem in this area...

According to STATS INC: http://snap.stats.com/snap/pfw/nfl/index.asp

CC has had 56 balls thrown to...
A. Bolding has had 62 balls thrown to...
L Coles has had 59 balls thrown to...
D. Hackson has had 41 balls thrown to...
M Harrison has had 52 balls thrown to...
C. Coles has had 56 balls thrown to...

As you see he has averaged just as many or more than others...

actually its the clutch ones he always catches

i KNOW that this discussion is taking place again. its all we heard last year chris this chris that. its old. our problems run MUCH deeper than him not running "crisp" routes. so if he drops a pass here or there..he makes big plays and has accounted for some of the FEW touchdowns we have this year.

he isnt overpaid. its our system thats screwed up..i.e play calling.and scheme. we have no identity .last year when chris flourished we had great play calling and more importantly EXECUTION!!

people are misinterepreting our main problem. our players are not EXECUTING on sundays and whether that be saban's fault or mularkey or capers we cant truly know b/c we arent running the routes or making the tackles or BLOWING the coverages.

i/f when they start executing then we will see the results we want BOTTOM LINE

when someone isnt ranked as a top 10 player... but produces like one...... thats not what i call over-rated..... CC has been a top 5-10 fantasy WR the past few years and no one will put him in their top 10..... he's far from over-rated..... if anyone over-rated him it was you guys !!

Until chambers can be CONSISTANT people on this forum really should stop calling him a top 10 reciever or even, andi cant believe he's called, ELITE? top10/elite recievers don't drop passes. Watch Tory holt and Marvin harrison, imo the best two receivers over the last few years, why? not only because they make the BIG plays, they make ALL the plays.

very overrated! what clutch catches do you remember? I remember touch down drops in pitts burgh game, refuses to go over the middle. when was the last time he broke a big gain. week in and week out the Holts, Harrisons, steve smiths are game breakers. Chambers aonly does it against weak secondaries and is not consistent at all. I wish he was though. Saban said it last year. our recievers are average...and they are. What have they really accomplished?

actually steve smith isnt consistant either then because he'll have 2 off weeks and then explode every so often. Tory and Marvin are consistant tho... as for Chambers... he does make the clutch catches, like the game winner vs. Buff and when we're driving down the field for a crucial score its always Chris getting us into position... Big plays??? none so far this year but you can't blame him cuz he's proved he is a big play WR he did it all last year.

once again CC plays great against mediocre teams....show me your "stuff" against the bears, panthers and great winning teams on a consistent basis. you can not in you right mind tell anyone you would rather have chambers over steve smith. NO WAY!

Did you see how horrible Steve Smith played the week before last ? It was digusting, but he bounced back with a huge game this past weekend. He has a pro-bowl QB, that must be nice.... he wasn't much of anything before Jake stepped up his game.... that, and Chambers still has had a more productive career with some of the worst QBs in the NFL. Who would i take ??? I'll take the guy with the real QB. Who would i rather have on MY team ? the better overall WR.... Chris Chambers

he has tremendous talent but somehow, he just doesn't seem to have the impact of a Steve Smith, TJ houshmanzadeh or players like that.

this is how chamber starts every year then he blows up with some huge games and gets off and running i hope he blows up this sunday....... speaking of blowing up did anyone hear aout those bomb threats that went around the nfl....i heard miami was supposedbly a target !
