We have the potential for about 60 million in capspace next year. Let's get some linebackers and a CB and we are super bowl contenders!!!! GO FINS

I am sure the money will be spent wisely and I am equally sure that a lot of free agents will want to play for this team right now.

We have a lot of pieces in place and having the ability to fill some of our holes before the draft with studs would make us that much more formidable.

I'd really like to see Adam Gase win coach of the year and raise his stock and our profile that much more in order to entice some quality veterans.

You do also realize that the cap space also means we only have 36 players under contract for next year...right?

Yeah, we need to resign Sims, Kiko and Stills then spend the rest on depth, especially oline depth. Draft all defense.

I agree with defense.. but there is at least 4 good TE's in this draft, what if one slips to the 2nd? That's the only pick I'd consider on offense

Blowing cap space on veterans in free agency hasn't worked out too well for us the past decade. Build through the draft, sign a few veterans to cap friendly deals to fill any needs. Don't go chasing the big name/big money free agents.

I like getting quality FAs, but I agree with you. Consistently, the top couple of FAs at any position are easily overpaid. If Miami were 'one piece away,' fine - spend the money.but with 4-5 hole and the draft, coldly, being a crap shoot, getting top quartile talent will do the job. Yes, get some solid FAs, but "Don't go chasing the big name/big money free agents."

That Suh guy has worked out well after a lot of people said we overpaid him.

It's all relative to the player we sign and each potential signing has no bearing on anything that has ever happened in the past.

If we have the money it would make no sense to not try and fill 2 or 3 holes before the draft and then head into the draft more capable of drafting BPA and not for need.

Should the Eagles not try and sign Alshon Jeffrey because Braylon Edwards didn't work out for the Jets?

Are the Giants kicking themselves for giving Olivier Vernon all that money?

You upgrade, when you can upgrade. Its just money.

Cap space will be used to do some key resignings (Still, Sims, Landry, Jones and maybe Branch)...I would also look at a starting guard in free agency.

The draft should be defensive heavy and while I like the idea of a playmaking TE, I can hold off a year while we add talent and youth to this defense. Linebacker is a must and with the way, the season has shaken out and the strength of the draft, I think you grab one in round 1...there are 4 that can come in and start and help upgrade two positions (New MLB and Kiko to WLB). I think the edge position needs some youth and a nickle player is something they should strongly look at.

I wouldn't chase big names. Just seek young solid players (nobody over 26). Players that were drafted high but have yet t reach their potential. May sign four of those types of players and hope two or three pan out.

So... if we drafted Suh, then gave him over 100 million a couple years ago, we would be better off than we are now? Or would we still have the same man that we paid over 100 million for?

It's not spending big money in free agency every year that kills teams. Every team has expensive players. You can't just 'build through the draft' for a few years and be done, because any studs you find will want to be paid.

The key is being able to do it again and again. Every team has great expensive players. What every team doesn't have is good cheap players on rookie contracts. And the ability to get everything out of the guys you have.

So yes, I agree that we need to draft well. But I always hate when people say we can't spend money in free agency.

I'll not refute your logic, but I'll make a point through exaggeration.. Given a team with 4-5 significant holes, would you rather pay $20mm/yr to one of the NFL's top 3 LBs or would the money be better spent with $12mm for a top 20 LB and $8mm for a top 20 OG? THAT is my struggle. The top 1-2 at any position are chased by 2-4 teams with $120mm in cap space (OK, not quite). Again, for a team 'one piece away,' overspending to get the the SB may be a wise investment. For a team like Miami, not so much. I'm not AGAINST signing an elite talent, but not if it means less money for remaining holes. Tangentially, I like the two names you used - Suh and OV. Suh had a record since his rookie year of being elite. Odds of success were good. OV, OTOH had one season (actually HALF a season) of elite performance. Odds of success. Well, much less.

60 million sounds like a lot but we want to roll 10 million into 2018 and we'll probably spend 30 or so million between kiko, stills, landry, reshad and sims plus fillers and draft picks. We do have enough for one big signing though

Also R jones and J Landry need new contracts. That should be priority

I like Jones but you can't kill your cap over him. Something respectable? Sure! But anything outrageous and you let him walk.

LB and OL is where you overspend if you must. But not for R.Jones.
