As the Dolphins continue their offseason program at the Baptist Health Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University, a big focus for the offensive players is learning a new scheme with the arrival of Head Coach Adam Gase.

This is nothing unusual for tight end Jordan Cameron, who has gotten a lot of experience throughout his NFL career at dealing with change and learning new systems.

“I think I’ve had seven offensive coordinators in six years,” Cameron said. “I think I’m good at it actually. It’s one of those things where unfortunately I’ve been a part of a lot of different programs but I’ve kind of figured out how to retain the information I need to retain and forget about the stuff and have a short memory with the bad stuff. Coach Gase mentioned that it’s a fresh start for us this year and he’s going to look at it as a clean slate and that’s a refreshing feeling.”

Cameron is getting ready for his second season with the Dolphins after joining the team as an unrestricted free agent last offseason.

While it’s still early in the process, Cameron says he likes what he’s seen from the new offense.

“There’s a lot of tempo in this offense,” Cameron said. “It’s very fast-paced. It kind of goes to our skill sets as position groups with tight ends, receivers, running backs, and I think it’s definitely going to be a benefit for us. There’s just a lot going on. There’s a lot of routes that get guys in positions to win and Coach Gase is obviously one of the best offensive minds in football. We trust him and we have confidence in him and Clyde (Christensen).”

Gase said at the league meeting in Boca Raton in March that he was “excited to see where we can go” with Cameron, pointing out his offense makes extensive use of the tight end.

He was sadly under utilized last year.

You get this guy involved, playing to his strengths and it will make #17's life a helluva lot easier, that's for sure.

It's nice, for once, to see our decision makers exhibiting a little logic.

Sims getting hurt played a huge role in that. He had to block a whole lot more than we wanted him to.

I completely expected the same rapport between tannehill and Cameron that ryan displayed with Dustin Keller prior to Keller's injury (I believe Cameron is a better tight end now than Keller was). That didn't happen. I'd like to blame the previous regime. We'll see.

That is odd. I seem to remember him dropping some passes.

He did. Trust your eyes, not some parameters developed to publish a statistic.

That said, Cameron should excel in the Gase/Christensen offense.
