Channing Crowder is a solid tackler and one of the real personalities on the team. He received a strong vote of confidence by getting a new contract and kind words from Coach Sparano the other day. However, it sounds like he has chronic soreness in his knees.
In Joey Porter's tour of the facilities the other day, Penny was studying tape, Jake Long and the offensive line were eating and Channing Crowder was in the tub, icing his knees.
I also read that he missed this morning's practice due to knee problems.
Is Reggie Torbor the entire back-up plan or do we need to be looking at picking up another inside linebacker?

Should have drafted Scott Mckillup. How can these guys ignore the fact that our defensive play caller has bad knees????????

This is a huge dicrepancy in the offseason activities of the FO and I'm not happy about it.

Pray for Crowders knees because we saw what moving Ayodele over accomplished in last year's KC game.

His knee problems in College were well documented and this is why the draft annalists said that if he could hold up over his career it would be a good pick until that point was proven then the pick was average at best.

In light of the chronic knee issues, it's surprising the FO chose to sign him to a new deal and also not address ILB in the draft. This is the one area of the team that I am most concerned with.

You can begin to understand why the Pat White haters are upset about the pick. It really seems like a luxury when you could have picked up Rey Rey and solidified the position.

Time will tell...

all he is doing is increasing the blood flow so the bone will heal, he probably doesnt have much cartledge left, or artificial cartledge.. nothing a lil pain meds wont cure in a hurry come came time..but alot of big men suffer knee problems

Tobor will have to do. Martin and Folsom are not ready. The only ggo thing I can say is that ILB are easier to find than OLB. To bad Roth is nicked up as he might be an alternative

Rey went 38th overall to the Bengals. White went 44th overall. We did not pick White over Maualuga, because he was already off the board. The only time we passed over Maualuga was with the 25th overall pick when we drafted Vontae Davis. I think we made the best decision there.

Don't know why, but it seems that a lot of people think Maualuga was available at the 44 spot. Had to correct someone on the point a few weeks back.

Hmm, my bad. I don't know where I got that idea...

It would have been nice to be able to draft a solid MLB in case Channing has trouble, but people forget just how devoid of talent many parts of our roster are. There were too many needs than we could get in one draft.

That's why it was important to re-sign practically all of our free agents this last year. There was simply no way that we could easily replace them all as economical free agents were not out there and as I stated before, we couldn't get them all in one draft. That's really the consequence of the bad drafting of pretty much all our previous regimes.

We went with some help in the secondary with our top picks and I think that was the right decision. We were playing with fire last year and it was amazing that we got as many wins.

Im not worried about Channing at all. In the Press conference Sparano didnt seem to think it was a big deal at all when asked about Crowder resting. They wouldnt have given him a contract extension if they felt like he wouldnt hold up. He was even back out for the PM practice and seemend perfectly fine from what the beat writters said. I think it was one of those things where he already knows is role so they will let him rest just so he doesnt get beat up at all before the season, much like ferguson.

We'll see.

I too believe the FO overlooked this position. We should have jumped on Wilhelm when he was released.

Mabey the FO didn't want to embarass Ayodele and Channing by bringing in competiton?

I'm not sure. As long as Channing and Ayodele last we'll be fine. If they don't it's another story.

I just hope he makes some big impact plays this season. I defintely wanna see more out of this guy!
