Chargers waive NT Kwame Geathers : help for the run D ?

New England will pick him up and feature him as their NT.

The guy has been out with a knee injury since late August. I doubt he's in any shape to play football right now.

They sure think he's healthy enough to release him. You can't release an injured player without injury settlement.
 
There's a lot more to playing DT than size. If he was released, I doubt he'll come in and make waves.
 
teams dont tend to cut good players when they are fighting for a playoff spot....

Also we have 3 really good DT's who need to step it up, not be replaced

Yes they are good mainly at the pass rush and ok at run Defense but they are kind of light in the pants. Miami needs
a couple of space eaters like Solai was.
 
The way this team stops the run is by the dline getting early penetration. From there, the front 7 needs to take proper angles and most of all tackle.

Might help to if the DC gets them in proper defenses.
 
Can we pick him up and stash in IR for next year? Guys that size are rare. Was there another issue to give up on a 24 year old?
