Chase Allen to IR

I thought originally he might have had some potential, but then he ends up up on IR both years. I honestly think that we may have/or can find upgrades from the Mike Hull and Chase Allen type guys ... at least from a defensive standpoint, as opposed to just ST, if they had to step in and play.

Unless this is just a gift to the kid I don't get it...

Your right. And they may have found those upgrades in Hanks and Watson, both seem like they have a chance to make the 53. Allen always had potential but never was healthy. I think they could eventually release him off IR once he's healthy. Perhaps even keep him for next off season to see what he can bring?

I had hope for Chase Allen. He clearly has the size and athleticism to be just what this type of defense needs. With the new system, I was hoping he could come in with a clean slate and maybe get some quality development snaps this year as we rebuild. Sorry he is injured, glad he cleared waivers, and happy to have him back in Miami even if it is on IR.

But I can't help but think this is a missed opportunity for a young guy like him.

To be honest he seems a little too slow for what they want at LB. If Kiko and Raekwon are too slow, then you know he is too.

I truly havent seen it from him at any point (the speed) but I will be honest he hasnt really flashed much at all. I think if it werent for his special teams play he should have been cut.

But the lack of depth at LB seems to have helped keep him on the team.

Meh. We think every no name Caucasian LB is going to be the next Zach Thomas. Hull sucked and Allen was only a tad better. We can do better.
