I posted this in another thread but nobody commented so I figured I'd just post the stats. I know it's just preseason but it does say a little about the state of our offense.

-Our 1st team offense has yet to score a touchdown.

-We are averaging roughly 15 ppg.

-If you take away the Jason Glenn INT returned for a TD, we've only scored
37 offensive points which averages out to a little over 12 ppg.

-Feeley and Frerotte have combined to complete 56% of their passes (50/89) for 471 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

-Feeley and Frerotte are averaging 5.3 YPP and 9.42 YPC.

-Out of the 37 offensive points scored, only 13 of the points have been scored by our 1st or 2nd string offense

-Brock Berlin has as many TD passes as Frerotte and Feeley have combined and he's played in one less game!

-We've rushed for 154 yards this preseason averaging 2.9 YPC.

-We've allowed 6 sacks this preseason (Not that bad since 3 of them came in one game vs. the Steelers)

Man . . . its to bad you guys have to play us Jets, the Patsies and the Bills 2 times each. You guys just dont match up well against the 3 of us.

0-6 in the division this year? You guys can do it

Mod: This is not the Samck forum, address the topic or find the Depths of The Sea forum, either or but, continue to talk smack in this forum and you'll be banned. This is your only warning.

Those Are Some Scary Numbers To Watch, But It's Only Preseason, Hope Nick Has Something Up His Sleeve For The Reg Season.

its preseason people dont read to much in the stats, we dont be a playoff team but we wont be as bad as we look now

You can BET that we will be 3-3 in the division this year.

Well, I think we were worse off last year and we still managed to eek out a win in the division. Furthermore, having Fiedler as a potential starting QB at any point of the season pretty much means we should be beating you at least once.

As for the offensive production. It looks bad. It is bad. However, a lot of this is near misses and timing issues. I think you will see us struggle early but come around towards the middle and end of the season. The defense will have to caryr us and I think they are up to the task...again.

WE HAVE YET TO GAME PLAN FOR ANY TEAM WE HAVE PLAYED! ....SO WHAT DOES IT MATTER??? 2nd team guys playing with the first team? I'll be more interested after the first half of football played this week when some game planning is done by Saban and the coaches.

Very true. My biggest frustration is that I was expecting to see glimpses of this high powered offense that we are going to see in the regular season. Not the finished product. Just glimpses. In the past, we've had Wanny and his conservative philosophy to blame for the lack offensive big plays. Now with Linehan and Houck, we're seeing little change at this point. I hope we do put it together. I just hope it doesn't take us as long as it did last year. I don't know if I can take another offensive start like we had last year.

It's pre-season for the other team too.

'It's only preseason' is a cop-out. Guess what? It's also been preseason for every team that beat us and the issue may not be wins and losses but the real issue should be the Dolphins not even being close in the last couple of games.

I look at preseason stats the same way I look at Jets fans. For the most part they serve no purpose and are relatively pointless :D

We'll see :)

2005 pre Season

-"Feeley and Frerotte have combined to complete 56% of their passes (50/89) for 471 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception."

-"We've rushed for 154 yards this preseason averaging 2.9 YPC."

These stats represent and average of 314 yds Passing per game (a total of 471 yds in 1.5 games/6 quarters). Also represents an average of 47 yds Rushing per game (a total of 140 yds, used on RB stats)...

Now I have taken your info and comparing to last Pre-Seasons 1st 3 games and compare...

2004 Pre-Season-3 Games

Feeley and Jay combined to complete 69% of their passes (45/65) for 409 yards, 1 Rushing TD and 1 INT.

A total of 93 yds rushing (did not use an 88 yds run by Russel), averaging 1.6 YPC.

These stats represent and average of 234 yds Passing per game (a total of 49 yds in 1.75 games/7 quarters). Also represents an average of 31 yds Rushing per game (a total of 93 yds, used on RB stats)...

See the Difference=
A 66-34 split on passing and rushing this year compared to 53-47 in 2004.

A 34% improvement (234 yds-314 yds), in yds per game, in the passing game compared to 2004

An average 81% improvement in YPC (1.6 to 2.9), an average of 54% improvement rushing yds per game (31 yds to 47 yds)...

Also we have improved our TOP from last year by almost 2 minutes (25:08-27:02)...

That's is just some of the positives of the numbers reflected...

Some good info in there. We look favorable when we look at those stats. The only thing that may be a little misleading is that most of those stats came from our 3rd and 4th stringers. I know that the stats probably aren't broken down this way but I'd like to see how our 1st stringers and 2nd stringers match up against the rest of the league.
