Interesting but very random article comparing the Chiefs and the Dolphins from PFW. Click the link to read the full article:

Given everything that’s transpired over the offseason, you would think that the vibes emanating out of Kansas City and Miami these days would be similar. Both the Chiefs and the Dolphins took almost identical approaches to rebuilding their clubs, each deciding that an influx of young, fresh faces would be needed in the hopes of reversing their fortunes.

Each of them started by cutting a host of aging stalwarts, with the Chiefs bidding farewell to the likes of Ty Law and Eddie Kennison, just as the Dolphins asked Trent Green and Keith Traylor to turn in their playbooks. They each stockpiled the draft picks in April and aimed first to rebuild in the trenches — both teams’ top two picks were spent on linemen. Both avoided shelling out gobs of cash to high-priced free agents. And, perhaps most strikingly, each traded away their star defensive end, with the Chiefs sending Jared Allen up to Minnesota and the Fins shipping Jason Taylor up to the District.

Yet despite all the similarities the teams share, they are hardly on equal footing when it comes to the future. In Miami, optimism has been restored, whereas in Kansas City, the outlook is bleaker than it has ever been.

now that IS random.

Also, that's not really fair to assume the Chiefs are going no where just because they didn't draft a Qb. (and thats basically all the article said) Clearly the writer doesn't think much of Carl Peterson, not that he should, but its a bit bias.

Gotta like the good press though.

It's interesting, especially because everywhere I read people say the Chiefs will be better than the Phins and that they are in better shape because they had more draft picks.

I am curious as to whether or not KC will cut Surtain or not . that was a good article though. some of the chief fas around here are pissed off at Peterson.

I don't have time to read the whole thing I just wonder what they're basing their opinion on? The Fans, the staff, the players, all of them...what? I don't know how KC couldn't be thrilled right now after the offseason they had. Then again, they do have Herm Edwards and that guy is about as transparent as it gets. I would cry if he ever became the Dolphins HC...No, check that, I'd kill myself.

His argument breaks down to two issues.

1. Trading Jason Taylor to Washington, versus trading Jared Allen to Minnesota. He likes the Taylor trade for a 2nd and 6th because Taylor probably only has one good year left in him, but hates the Allen trade for a 1st and two 3rds, because Allen is "the best defensive lineman in the league" and is in the prime of his career.

2. The Dolphins had John Beck, but hedged themselves by taking Chad Henne anyway. The Chiefs had Brodie Croyle, and ignored the position entirely.

Everything else is just his vendetta against Carl Peterson.

The Chiefs started in the wrong direction as soon as they hired Herm Edwards. Add Peterson to the mix and you have a franchise killers. Trust me, we as Dolphans should recognize it anywhere!

Yeah there is some sense to that. Both teams traded away two pro bowl DE's. The Chiefs traded Jared Allen a 26 year old in his prime. The Phins traded away soon to be 34 year old DE who will play at most 2-3 more years. They have the highest paid running back in Larry Johnson who is 28 and we have all seen how running backs last these days. It's not long at all. How Carl Peterson still is the GM over there is beyond me. They have only made the playoffs twice out of the past 10 years. Herman Edwards sucks and is only good for a sound byte. The Phins now have an adminstration with a proven track record. The Chiefs are not the worst team, but they're not gonna be winning the west anytime soon.

I disagree with this because of Allens issues with alcohol, he has plenty of talent but he's proven that he can't be dependable. That's enough in my book to take him out of the "best" category.

#2, I agree with 100%.

I also question just how premium a pass rusher Jared Allen is but that's a different issue altogether. We'll see. For me to think that was an awful trade for the Chiefs, I'd have to think Rick Spielman did something smart, and I'm not convinced he did anything of the kind. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he just got "Ricky'd".

What I do know is that pick after pick the Chiefs kept taking a bunch of the players I really liked. Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Jamaal Charles, Brad Cottam, Will Franklin, Kevin Robinson, Brian Johnston...I mean I was not that big on Brandon Flowers because attitude and speed issues but then again even I have to admit that if you put the guy in cover two he has a great chance of being quite good.

I do agree with the writer about their QB position, though. Brodie Croyle has not done anything to warrant not hedging him. But, surprisingly, I can't help but wonder if Tyler Thigpen is more of a reason they didn't grab a QB, as opposed to Brodie Croyle.
