Hello all of your aquamarine mammals,

I usually post a head-to-head talent comparison on chiefsplanet that compares positions between the Chiefs and their upcoming opponents. For your amusement, disbelief, and probably rage, I'll post it here too, because I'd like to get your reactions.

On each comparison, I split up ten points. Obviously, more points for a player means that I think that player is better at this point in time. I intentionally make the spreads large, since in reality the difference between two players would probably never get more than about a 7:3 split. In all cases, the Chiefs player's score is first.

Feel free to critique. I should mention that I haven't seen the Dolphins play in quite a while, so let me know if I'm dead wrong about someone.

Thanks.

HB - Holmes vs. Ronnie Brown - Brown is gaining steam after a slow start, and is averaging a little more than 4 yards per carry, and can apparently catch, too. Probably posts up better against Priest than most, and will get better each game. Both teams have strong backups, though Miami's is more at risk of dropping out of society. 6/4
FB - Richardson vs. Heath Evans - Evans was a backup at Seattle for four years before joining Miami this year. Appears to be a pure blocking back with only four touches this year. Richardson was a pro bowler last year and is more versatile, and wins this battle easily. 8/2
QB - Green vs. Gus Frerotte. Ouch. Just...ouch. Frerotte is capable of a good game on occasion, but Green is a pro bowler. 9/1
WR - Kennison vs. Chris Chambers. Kennison is a true #1 guy, but so is Chambers. 3/7
WR - Boerigter(?) vs. Marty Booker. Assuming Parker won't be around this week. Boerigter has a good chance of shocking some people, but Booker is far more proven. 2/8
TE - Gonzalez vs. Randy McMichael - The wife beater is probably not quite Gonzalez, but he's close. Let's call it even. 5/5
LT - Roaf vs. Damion McIntosh - McIntosh is a former Charger third-round pick who's had an odd career path bouncing between the inactive list and starting. Nothing special, but workmanlike. Roaf is a ten-time pro bowler. 9/1
LG - Waters vs. Jeno James - James is a six-year veteran in his third year as a starter (second with Miami). Former sixth-round choice. Waters is a pro bowler who's not yet peaked. 8/2
C - Wiegman vs. Seth McKinney - McKinney is a four-year Dolphin in his second year as a starter, former third-round draft choice. Call it even since I have no idea who he is. 5/5
RG - Shields vs. Rex Hadnot - Hadnot is a sixth-round choice who managed to seize the starting RG spot as a rookie. Potential up and comer? Shields is a ten-time pro bowler who has not played like it so far. 7/3
RT - Black vs. Stockar McDougle - Enormous, solid right tackle at the peak of his career. Former 1st round choice by Detroit. Not a pro bowler, but rates ahead of Black at the moment, particularly since Black has been shuffled around a lot. 2/8
K - Tynes vs. Olindo Mare - Very similar stats so far this year. Tynes has settled in and is kicking very well, but Mare's been kicking since Ponce De Leon was Miami's coach. Advantage to the veteran at the moment. 4/6
P - Colquitt vs. Donnie Jones - Jones is a second-year guy who kicked poorly last year, but is doing well this year (at least statistically). He was good enough to actually be drafted in the 7th round. Colquitt's average is not good at all right now, but he causes muffs. Have to give the short-term advantage to Miami at the moment. 3/7
KR/PR - Hall vs. Wes Welker - Welker is a reasonable return guy, but not spectacular. Hall is better statistically and more of a threat. 8/2
FS - Wesley vs. Lance Schulters - Schulters is a solid veteran and made a pro bowl once several years ago. Wesley produces more turnovers (28 in 5+ years vs. 21 in 7+ years) and more tackles, but we all know he's lost out there right now. Call it even. 5/5
SS - Knight vs. Tebucky Jones - Longtime Patriot Jones is a hitter, but a low-turnover guy (13 in 7+ years). Knight is a big hitter and ball hawk (45 in 8+ years). Advantage Knight. 8/2
CB - Surtain vs. Travis Daniels. Daniels is a rookie fourth-round pick. He picked off a Jake Plummer pass in Week 1, but that's like shooting fish in a barrel. Surtain is an all-pro at his career peak. 10/0
CB - Warfield (?) vs. Sam Madison - Will it be Warfield? A gimpy McCleon? George Washington's younger brother DeWayne? Who knows? We're going to have a rusty player or a backup in there. Madison is a multiple pro bowler. 0/10
OLB - Johnson vs. Channing Crowder - Matchup of rookies, both of whom we liked on draft day. Crowder has produced 21 tackles vs. Johnson's 41. Advantage DJ. 7/3
OLB - Bell vs. Junior Seau - 12-time pro bowler, but hasn't made it since 2002. Still productive, still probably gets excited about making a tackle 12 yards downfield on 3rd and 3. Still outproducing Bell. 3/7
MLB - Mitchell vs. Zach Thomas - I've heard that their MLB is pretty good. Five-time pro bowler, but missed it last year. Mitchell has made astounding strides and is actually becoming pretty good, but give a big advantage to the veteran right now. 2/8
DE - Hicks vs. Kevin Carter - Heh,heh. Dick hates Kevin Carter. 11-year veteran with declining skills, but still a strong pass rusher. Hicks is a veteran with declining skills....what, you're expecting more? 2/8
DE - Allen vs. David Bowens (?) - If supermodel Jason Taylor is out, this will be good news for us, even if Roaf tends to swallow small pass rushers. Bowens has been a career backup, but produced 7 sacks last year with Dolphins, so should not be underestimated. He's very small at 265 lbs., which is just a large snack for Roaf. Did Allen have a breakout game last week or a fluke? Hopefully, the former. Advantage Allen. 7/3
DT - Browning vs. Keith Traylor - Holy cow. Traylor's still in the league? Two very different guys - Browning's more of a mobile pass rusher and Traylor is essentially a 337 lb. pile of goo that causes detours. Big piles of goo are valuable in the middle of the line, though. 3/7
DT - Dalton vs. Vonnie Holliday. Holliday? VONNIE HOLLIDAY? As we all know, he's good for one monster game per year, so our odds are 15/16ths that he'll be a complete nonfactor. It's interesting that he's now an undersized DT at 288 lbs. Dalton has no stats at all but has been consistently collapsing pockets. Gimme Dalton any day. 7/3
Coaching - Your call. I can't figure out our coaching staff.
Totals

Offense - Chiefs 64, Dolphins 46
Special Teams - Chiefs 15, Dolphins 15
Defense - Dolphins 56, Chiefs 54

The defensive score is much closer than I expected. Feel free to critique.

Not a bad analysis. The reason the defensive scores are that close is because Taylor might not play.

This is what I was looking for in one of my other threads, thanks for throwing it out ther Rain Man. And good to see you :goof:

I kinda have a better feel for the O, just because I've been in fantasy now for about 8 years. And I have R Brown and Chambers on one of my teams! :D

But I think the key will be the defense, and stopping the run. Especially if the weather is bad. I'll start with the Fin's D-Line. I used to think our DTs were weak, but now I see you guys are starting the tractor and Vonnie

Vonnie was so bad we let him go. This should be a physical pound the ball type of game if the weather is bad, and I like our talent on the O-Line to open holes for our rushing attack!

I like your LBs. Zack is a monster in the middle, and even though Seau is getting old, he can still get it done.

At secondary, Madison is solid. Not sure about your guy on the other side or your safeties. But I'm not sure how much of a difference either team's secondary will make if we are playing in a torrential downpour...

gonzalez is approximately 11,000 times better than mcmichael

Well lets see.......Gonzalez has 18 catches for 142 yards with no TD's and an average of 7.9 yards per cath. Mcmichael has 19 catches for 200 yards with 4 TD's and an average of 10.5 yards per catch. Despite the numbers Gonzo might still be a little bit better than Mcmichael but not by much

Actually pretty fair as I see it. I was expecting to be much worse. Guess I'm used to all the bills/jets/pats fans that would have had 10/0 down the board.
Just curious why you didn't compare maddison vs surtain?

er...........no

I don't disagree with the actual numbers too much. Some are probably a bit off, but they seem to even out.

That said, I don't think this tells us anything at all. How beneficial is it to have a 10x better fullback than the other team? Definitely not the same as having a 10x better quarterback.

^ Why embarass Sam

I'd take Gonzo over Big Mac any day, even with his lack of production this season he still is and always has been one of the best TE's to ever play professional football. McMichael is pretty darn good, but not in Gonzo's league yet.

To me the Chiefs offense is better at EVERY position than ours. Also their players on defense in the secondary are ALL better than ours, (except maybe FS) and if Seau is not playing come Sunday then their LB's are better than ours. Now i do think we have the edge on d-line with Taylor, Carter and Holliday. But the Chiefs talent wise are a hell of a lot better than us. Also i'd take their coaching staff over ours too......

So, Miami will be stomped come sunday correct?

As Lee Corso says, NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND.

The Kansas City Chiefs came off a tough game with the Washington Redskins last week, a game that went pretty much down to the wire and drained them of their energy. Sunday they come to South Florida, where the Dolphins have not lost at home, and are very strong there on most seasons. With the RB tandem of Priest and Larry, we WILL have trouble stopping the Chief offense. However, the passing attack for the Chiefs is NOT that strong. It may be better than ours, but it will NOT be good enough come sunday. Offensively we wont be able to throw the ball.....we are going to have to run it! Where Ricky and Ronnie WILL excel AND help dominate time of possession and dicate the pace of the game. While i think it's close Miami will win the game on the leg of OLINDO MARE and the running of R & R.

Dolphins - 27
Chiefs - 17

:D

Probably much closer than it should be but thanks for the generosity.
While the Chiefs are in the top tier of the league in terms of talent, we're in the bottom third. Our main advantage is that we're playing at home and that defensively we match up fairly well with your offense. Coaching will play a big factor. Hopefully, we'll establish the running game early and control the game-clock. If not, I don't like our chances.

At the center position it should be Weigman-10, McKinney-0. McKinney is big steaming pile of doo-doo.
He obviously doesn't know who mckinney is, if he thinks thier even!!!
