Does anyone have any info on whether Chris Akins will be ready to play for us this season? And, do you think he will be a good safety for us? I'm concerned with our secondary depth.

I think he was more of a special teams ace, and last I heard he was considering retirement.

Last I heard he has recovered quite well from his injury. We won't be in the saftey mix, but he should do well on ST.

This question came up back at the mini-camp time and apparently Akins practiced and will be ready for TC. Let's see if Saban and the new regime like his ST skills?????

I just hope that he is not version of talent on the bench that is constantly injured.

Ever notice that F.@.G could be misconstrued as something else?

Anyway, I think Akins will be a practice team body. I don't see a spot for him and I think he'll moreso wafer into the sunset then retire.

A Practice team body?, this guy is a top 5 special teams player in the NFL. We got him away from the Patriots by using some money. Bill B actually had nice things to say about him. He isn't signed to a monster deal, but would probably be a captain on Special Teams. As far as injury prone. When go out and your knee or ankle gets caught in an awful position, and you are told it's a major major injury, you might never play again, that is not called be 'Injury Prone'. Injury Prone is Josh Beckett, who is on the DL a few times a year with numerous injuries, none of which are done by other teams (ie) a ball hit back up the mound breaking your leg.

The guy will be our best special teams player. With him playing special teams along with Sammy Morris goiung back to being a full time special teamer our kick coverage will be vastly improved.

Well the guy I'm going to keep a eye on is Billy Parker, the arena league player we picked up..if he can transfer his 10 interceptions last year into production for the phins this year, we might have a steal. Gadson proved that arena league guys can complete in the NFL. I'm already high on Y. Bell..so I'm hoping something develope at the S spot to give us some confidence.
