Some people on here swear by Chris Chambers. They take the last quarter of one season and let that sway their opinion on this second tier wideout. The guy has been in the league for 6 years and people still preach potential. At what point does potential give way to production. Since production is what really matters and that "magical" 2005 season is held in such regard - I decided to break down game by game to show what he REALLY did that season.

From weeks 1 to 10, Chris had: 39 Rec. / 498 Yards. / 5 TDs.
He Averaged 3.9 Rec. / 49.8 Yards. / .5 TDs a game.

From weeks 11 to 13, Chris had: 29 Rec. / 460 Yards. / 3 TDs.
He Averaged 9.6 Rec. / 153.3 Yards. / 1 TDs a game.

From weeks 14 to 16, Chris had: 14 Rec. / 160 Yards. / 3 TDs.
He Averaged 4.6 Rec. / 53.3 Yards. / 1 TDs a game.

Weeks 1-10 and 14 to 16, Chris had: 53 Rec. / 658 Yards. / 8 TDs.
He Averaged 4.07 Rec. / 50.6 Yards. / .6 TDs a game.

Basically, people hold Chambers in high regards here in Miami because he had a 3 game span where he showed glimpses. What has he done the other 5+ years here in Miami to have us think this seson will change? People will continue to say "Look at the QBs he's played with". Well he managed to rack up some nice numbers in that 3 game span with Gus Frerotte.

The truth is for a guy who has been clocked at 4.35 (according to the NFL Experience) he doesn't pull away from defenders. When defenses try to shut him down, they do. That doesn't really happen to players like Chad Johnson and Steve Smith. He drops a lot of passes after making terrific one handed catches on te sideline (which makes me think he loses concentration on the field).

It's time to cut our ties with Chris. They probably won't trade him but I think a change of scenery would be good for him and the Dolphins. I would offer Chris to the Raiders for either Jerry Porter or Randy Moss straight up. People on this forum love to question other people's loyalty to the Dolphins for being negative on a player. I think am being very loyal to the Dolphins. I don't put ANYONE above the team. I would be all for trading Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor tomorrow if it benefitted the team. The Dolphins have gone 4-12, 9-7 and 6-10 the last 3 years and have missed the playoffs for the last 5. It's time to make changes on this team and start cutting ties with over-paid under achievers. If Miami doesn't trade Chambers and he has a fantastic year - I will gladly eat my crow with a big smile on my face...

Like i've been saying here for the past year, he had three good games during voting time........

This is why when using stats for PB voting, I always drop the best and worst game of the person I am evaluating.

Cut ties because you don't like him you mean. Chambers has scored 43 tds in his 6 year career and in two of them he had less than 7. Chambers is also not someone who will disrupt the chemistry of the team, unlike the two players you mentioned we should trade him for.
I will give you that Chambers is not on par with Steve Smith or Chad Johnson but that is not a good enough reason to want him gone. The one things these players have going for them is that they have had consistent qb play and being in the same system for the past several years. Can you say the same for Chris Chambers or any of the receivers on this team?

Well, let's all be thankful you aren't pulling the strings in Miami. You say things like Chad Johnson can't be shut down, but see the following (in 2006):

Chad Johnson (2007 Pro Bowl Starter):
Game 3, Pittsburgh: 1/11
Game 8, Baltimore: 4/31
Game 14, Indianapolis: 3/37
Game 15, Denver: 3/32
Game 16, Pittsburgh: 4/53

He had no touchdowns in those games.

Of course, in Games 9-11, he had 24 catches for 573 yards and 5 TDs. Isn't that exactly the case you're making against Chris Chambers? Do you even look at the guys you prop up as superstars? This isn't even taking into account that Carson Palmer throwing left handed is still probably better than anybody the Dolphins put out there.

Now, you may be forgetting that last season, Chambers' three games (11-13) happened to coincide with Frerotte's best game of the season by far (San Diego), his third best (Oakland), and Rosenfels' comeback.

You think maybe the quarterback has something to do with it? Maybe we should trade him for Randy Moss. After all, it's not like he had his worst season as a pro by far this season. Or how about Jerry Porter? His one catch this season sells me on his talents.

If we can get good value for Chris I would do it. He simply doesnt step up when we need him to. He just slumps like the rest of the offense. When good receivers are relyed on to make big catches downfield to give the team a spark when they are behind, they make the play. I like CC but he just doesnt get it done downfield. He can make a real nice sideline catch though...

We need a legit #1, that's all there is to it. Chris has had more then his fair share of time to step up.

It has nothing to do whether I like him or not. I met him once and he seemed to be a really nice guy. I think Miami needs more production from numerous positions. RB, QB, TE and WR. I think Miami needs to upgrade those positions if we plan on improving.

If Ricky comes back, The RB position improves.
If Culpepper comes back, The QB position improves.
I would love to trade McMichael.
Trading Chambers for Moss or Porter improves the WR position.

Your problem with using Chad Johnson is Ocho Cinco does that year in and out. We've had this discussion before, and I'm agreeing to disagree.

I agree that we need upgrading in numerous positions but how is trading Chambers going to upgrade the wr position? Jerry Porter is not as productive and Randy Moss is well...Randy Moss. Depending on a rookie to be the #1 WR, except for maybe Charles Johnson, would be asking too much.

Someone mentioned in another thread that a trade involving Chambers for Moss. I like it. Chambers has had a fair shot here and maybe he's better suited in a different style offense. He surely does not have break away ability. In the slot against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving a while back, he showed glimpses of greatness. Let him go while we can get some value.

Trade for TO and just put duck tape around his mouth....
