Chris Chambers Q&A: Sun-Sentinel

Chambers on Culpepper

"I think he’s still probably a few months away from really going out there and being able to compete at the level that he wants to compete and, with that said, I don’t know if we have time for him to get there.â€Â

Chambers not confident that Culpepper will be with the team this coming season?

if culpepper is healthy we should just get rid of him anyway we have qbs coming in this year and culpepper is just costing us cap money so why not release him

Ummmm... because when he's healthy he's a good player?

Bin saying this all year..say it again..He wil lbe on our roster come the opening day.
I bet anybody 10.000 fin dollars that he will be on our roster come the opening day.

His cap number is high but releasing him would only save us slightly over 1 million. So there is no real benefit of releasing him to save cap money.

Definitely DON'T RELEASE HIM! ONLY "TRADE" HIM!!! There definitely WILL be teams interested by OCT trading deadline. No need to be haste and cut him for "nothing". Hello?

What about Ricky Williams? Is he coming back? Do you want him to come back?

A: “Of course, man. Of course. I talked to him a little bit over the off-season through e-mail. Got a chance to see him a little bit on some stations. Man, he looks great. His body looks great. I can tell how focused he is. He definitely wants to come back and play football. He’s a great teammate. And when he’s on that field it just seems like there’s another level. You’ve got a guy who can take it 40 or 50 yards at any moment. I love playing with the guy. He’s a tremendous teammate on the practice field. And, of course, with this yoga thing he’s doing now he could bring that to the table and maybe help some guys out with that stuff as well.”

Man, I hope we keep RW. Chambers is absolutely right on. He just elevates the entire offense. There is a sense that, when he is in the game, a big play could happen at any moment.

The QB who had 1 good season and oh yeah 4 yrs ago....he had a lucky 1 season out of let see 7 yrs. 1/7 is like a real 1 hit wonder.

As far cap goes cutting him this year saves 1 million and
6 next ,7 in the year after followed by 8,9 ,10....emmmm what your logic.

He will never redo a contract he redid last year.ANy team wiht so much dough would have gone after garcia.

Chambers should feel that way about himself. He is acting like some sort of rookie saying that comment.

In regards to the selected Culpepper quote, I actually can't find fault with it. Whether or not Culpepper is here depends on Culpepper. At first, I was confident that he'd be able to pull through, but with the new offense being installed, and with coming back from an injury, I'm not so certain he'd be the best guy for the job. He can, of course, prove everyone wrong on that by getting his head around the new offense, changing his tendencies, and becoming a different style of QB, but initial reports are that he's resisting the idea of changing the way he plays. Sure, he may be working out, but is he going to work out? We'll see. In the meantime, we've got to address the situation as if he wouldn't because to do otherwise would be giving up the season altogether.
