The recent release of chambers has brought up the discussion of whether he should be brought in. I think he should but regardless of what some think should be done now, people seem to forget, by far he was the best WR the fins have had in the last 10 years.

IN the least 10 years he is the fins WR with the best single season: td, yards, yard per catch and receptions.

He also compiled the best stats throughout his career with the fins than any other receiver had in their career in miami.

Also, he is the only fin receiver to get more than 7 touchdowns in a year. Bear in mind that Gadsden is the only other fins receiver to get 7 touchdowns in a year, he did it once. Chambers had 2 season with 11 TD and 2 with 7. He is also, along with Martin, the only receiver to have a 1,000 yard season. Gadsen the 2nd best fins receiver, stats wise, had only one 800 yard season.

Say what you want about signing chambers now, but he is the best WR the fins have had in the last 10 years. Martin was 34 when he got to miami, booker was avg. in miami, welker had his coming out party in NE and Chambers was better than gadsden.

Here are the stats:

Gadsden: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GadsOr00.htm

Martin: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MartTo00.htm

Welker: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WelkWe00.htm

Booker: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BookMa00.htm

Ginn (just for fun):http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GinnTe00.htm

btw, Chambers first 3 season with the fins:
Games Rec. Yards Y/R TD
1st: 16 42 883 18.3(led the league) 7
2nd: 15 52 732 14.1 3
3rd: 16 64 963 15 11

Ginn:
1st: 16 34 420 12.4 2
2nd: 16 56 790 14.1 2
3rd: 16 41 482 11.7 2
3rd is projected.

Signing Chambers is like putting a plug in the side wall of your flat tire, it might get you to the next service station but you are not going to make it cross country with it!

Zach Thomas was our best LB in the last 10 years so should we bring him back. Hey Sam Madison use to be good maybe we should sign him up.

The only thing Chambers being our best WR in the last 10 years proves is how long we have really needed a true #1, because if he's the best we've had thats pretty pathetic.

IMO, there's more to effective receiving than raw stats, but even if Mr Dropsie is the best we've had, that only serves to pizz me off even more over Wannshmuck, Douchban and Cameroon.

This.

I heard that Marino guy used to be pretty good too....maybe even top 10 in franchise history.....I'm sure I could find some stats to support that....couldn't hurt to bring him in and work him out...

I hear Frisco could use some help at quarterback....couldn't hurt to bring in Steve Young for a looksie.....many would consider him top 10 in their franchises history...

Maybe Emmitt could secure a roster spot in Dallas as well....criteria fits...

The Raiders? They're absolutely nuts if they don't bring in Lamonica to give that Russell some competition....

bla bla bla... this isn't a bring chambers back thread, this is in response to some people saying he sucked, was worse than ginn, was another ginn... etc.

It is a disappointing truth that he was the best we've had for the last 10 years. After all the great recievers in this franchises history it's pretty darn humiliating. After all that though I still think we should at least bring him in for a look to see if he has anything left in the tank at all. If we sign him and it doesn't work out we can always cut him after a couple of weeks. He clears waivers at 4:00 right and I think he will, who is going to pay him 2.5 mil for the rest of the year when you can get him cheap after 4:00. Where is the down side?

Imagine how much better he would've been if he actually caught the ball consistently.

If he did that I would be more willing to put Chris up there with some of best WR's in Dolphins history. His inconsistency always bothered me. You never had to worry about that with Duper, Clayton, Warfield, McDuffie, or Moore

9 catches 122 yards 1 TD

That is what the 'great' Chambers has done this year. He slipped to SD's 4th WR....4th. He's fat and slow, and his play on the field was proof of it. Bring him in, but expect a slower fatter inconsistent shell of a former decent WR.

He's always been inconsistent.^ He wasn't decent, he was borderline below average. Everyone on this board were more consistent on their excuses for Chambers than Chambers ever was on the field. He never had a real QB to throw him the ball was one of them. Uhm, well, he had Rivers who is a pro bowl QB and that didn't change the fact that Chambers is still very below average.

He slipped out of the starting lineup just this week...and he also made the play of the game against the Raiders....just 2 days ago....a 20 yard reception against Nmamdi Asoumuga (sp?)

Fine he's not what he used to be, and fine he isn't a long term solution....but he would help. And so what he is 4th WR on the Chargers...and of the 3 ahead of him would help our struggling offense as well.
