I just wanna know if you guys think any different of chris chambers after last weeks game. I saw some things that made me very happy coming from a reciever that everyone is knockin. There was one pass that he caught where he was wide open and turned toward the sideline and instead of running out of bounds he cuts back across the field for a couple more yards. He also made a few of those sliding catches that we used to see more often when fiedler was around. I love the new strategy on offense, FTS, because thats what we should be doing. Getting the ball to playmakers like Chambers and McMichael. We also balanced our offense last week with and even amount of passing and running plays. Not trying to get off subject, so does anybody else think that chambers is a good number 1 reciever? i know a while ago there was a poll on this but things in our offense are changing and we have been getting the ball to our recievers lately.

I think if we have a much more consistent QB throwing him the ball, CC would be more consistent as well.

he had six catches, how many drops? i didn't see the game but he did break 100 yards. what happened to marty booker?
chambers still needs 401 yards get 1000.

The worst thing about all this was it was his FIRST 100 yard game of the year... and it was week 11! He needs to be more consistent. And so do the QBs throwing him the ball.

1 drop.

Booker was injured early

I only remember 1 drop but I may be wrong. Either way, I thought Chambers had his best game of the season. I'd like to see some more consistency because that 1000 yard mark is possible for him to achieve.

Well if Chambers had caught all the passes that have hit his hands or his chest this season, he'd have about 1200-1400 yards receiving already. He's probably left 1000 yards or close to it on the field with his bumbling.

chambers benifited from better play calling. this was the first game he was sent on short crosses.

this is speculation, but he may be better suited for a more horizontal game so he can use his speed. he really hasnt proven to be great at going and getting the ball down field. so this may be a case of using his strengths.

it seems to me, at least, that the farther down the field he goes, the worse his hands get

Nabo, nice call.

Not really. He is a talented WR that is still inconsistent. He drops far too many passes for 1 good game this season to make me forget about that.

Bottom fricken line is i've been sick to death of everyone doggin on him. he's a great receiver bottom line! He's been our best since we've had him. Sure he ain't no T.O. or Steve Smith but he's a damn good receiver so i've been sick of the negative talk ever since it started. Enough about him.

yea for sure better QB will make chambers a lot better.

Stop making excuses for the man
Chambers has dropped passes that the qb put in places where it's either a catch, or a drop. No way the cb can get to it and intercept it. It can go either way, you can have a great qb who makes everyone else seem better or you can have a wr that makes the qb look good. Chambers is supposedly very good but plays below average.

Here is my take on Chambers:

His biggest problem is consistancy... something we all know. So 1 game isnt gunna change my opinion... this is what he does. Has some good games, and some bad ones... rarely stringing them together.

Now, to the question of whether I feel he is a #1 receiver...

To me, the thing that seperates good receivers from true #1 receivers, is that a true #1 WR can consistantly beat double coverage. Chad Johnson is a perfect example. He guarentees he wont be stopped because he knows that he can beat double (and even sometimes triple) teams. Examples of true #1's IMO are:
MHarrison, TO, RMoss, Steve Smith, Chad, Holt, Ward, Muhamad.

Now, this is why in my mind Chambers wasnt a true #1.

BUT... I was thinking for a while, and I realized... Do we actually know how well Chambers deals with double teams? I mean, on TV, the camera focuses on the QB... not what is going on down field.
Could it be that our lame QBs have just seen the double coverage and dont look his way because of it? I was trying to think of examples of opportunities where he has been fed the ball despite double teams. I cant remember many(maybe just because they didnt end up being completions  )... 1 play this year that I can remember was in the KC game. The pass Sage threw. Chambers was tightly guarded by 2 DBs on each side of him, and Chambers made a great play on the ball, and took it to the house.

Maybe Chambers is more capable of this than we know...

However, another criteria of mine that defines a true #1 receiver is his ability to make the QB better. Steve Smith is a perfect example... Delhommie isnt that great. CJohnson also did it with Kitna (who never was that great until Chad really broke out). Chambers has not had that effect on our QBs.

So by my standards... he is only a descent #1 WR(better than some other teams #1s), but he isnt a true #1.

I do think he can be a great #1 (not a true #1, but still great and very productive). But Chambers will need a true #1 QB for him to take his game to that next level...

(sorry if its sorta rambling and kinda long... I am in the middle of pullin an all-nighter studying for a final exam and am kinda cracked-out off no sleep... :desk: )
