I thought maybe we'd be able to get this guy in the 2nd round but there's no chance of that after his combine. I think everybody here can agree that we need a shut down corner and that's what we'd get in Chris Houston. This past season Jarrett from USC and Bowe from LSU were two of the top receivers that did nothing against him. He could be just the shut down corner that this team needs. He blazed at the combine with a 4.32 40 and he is just an excellent player. If we can't trade down, should the dolphins just think about him with the #9 pick? I think with the way they performed yesterday, Houston or Landry could be our pick if Brady Quinn isn't there. Your thoughts...

i like this guy alot better that leon (toast) hall.

Yeah definitely....although he did run pretty good yesterday as well. But the same guys that were burning Hall last year are the same guys Houston was shutting down. He would definitely be an excellent addition.

His 5'9" height is what might keep him from being a 1st rounder. But he blazed that 40 and limited Dwayne Jarrett, Dwayne Bowe, and Robert Meachem to a combined 14 catches, 168 yds, and 1 TD. That's pretty impressive if you ask me.

Yup...very impressive. That is pretty short for a corner, but at the same time if he's still able to shut down Jarrett that is around 6-5, then he's got some awesome intangibles. Height shouldn't stop a team from drafting him if he's able to get the job well done. Plus that speed is awesome. It looked like he was flying at the combine.

Agreed, but we all know how the NFL biz is, I think that 5'9" might make a few more teams back off than expected.

He's pretty much a 1st round lock. Could be the 1st CB taken.

Tye Hill anyone????

One thing I love about draft time is that fans of respective teams can provide insight into players . . . well brace yourself boys, its my turn.

If the Phins drafted Chris Houston, I would tie a noose and hang myself off of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Chris Houston is the most OVERRATED cornerback to be a first round draft choice since Ahmad "Batman" Carroll (also of Arkansas) went in the first round in 2003.

Do not be fooled by the fast numbers and who he covered "well" during the regular season. Dwayne Jarrett was adjusting to a new quarterback, Bowe is not an elite receiver, and Meachem had a backup throwing him passes. Plus, Houston routinely blew coverage that either led to a big play or touchdown or he did and the receivers did not catch them.

He has an attitude the likes of a cancer and celebrates even though he hasnt done anything. I promise you my fellow fin fans, we in Razorback Nation are happy to get rid of him, and you would be wise to listen to what I say.

Wow, interesting info. Haven't heard anything negative about him til now.

I like Quinn at #9, too. I also like Landry, Ginn, Branch, Adams or Carriker at #9.

I think he would make a great player. My only worry is his height. Look at what Jax did to us because we had the small corners. His vertical could balence that though.
Is corner a real need for us? Some may say so, but I think Oline, OLB, and DT are holes we need to fill soon.
If we pick up Houston in the first, this might work.

1st Houston
2nd Shaw LB
3rd Ramirez OL
4th Steve Smith (Wishful thinking)

B. Sebo I had no idea of all this. There were never any reports of him being a cancer to the team. If no Houston, what about Laron Landry. I know we drafted safety last year but Jason Allen could play corner back or Landry could even play corner. He also blazed with a 4.35 40 and we all know how great of a player he is. Landry is probably the best overall defensive player in the draft.

Not a good idea. Theres more to playing corner than just speed. He didn't do that great at the coverage drills yesterday. He is a natural Safety.

One thing that bugs me is when people say a player isn't worth a #9 pick, but are definite 1st rounders. IMHO, if a player is expected to go 22nd (random number), but he is the player that we want/need....then pick him at #9 (if we can't trade down). Chris Houston would be a HUGE pick up for Miami. And I mean monumental. This guy impressed me beyond belief at the combine. His 40 times, his performance in drills, and more importantly, his character/interview. Unlike many of the players, he's the kind of man that looks you in the eye, is down to earth, has a sense of humor...and as Prime Time put it, Houston has that little bit of swagger just short of arrogance that a lockdown corner needs. I'd take him with open arms at #9.

Now this isn't knocking Landry. That dude is a beast. Flat out. If we took him at #9, another solid pick. He will be Pro Bowl material fairly quickly. Bold prediction? Nope. Common sense. I was also extremely impressed with Reggie Nelson's performance (little slow on the 40, but certainly excelled elsewhere). Made an amazing catch on one of the drills, real fluid in hips and explosive.

Either way, immediate starters and huge secondary upgrade. Preach on Houston/Landry fans. Preach on.
