If Mario Williams has been dogging it during preseason and can turn it around, then maybe. But so far Chris McCain has been our only pass rusher this preseason (I'm assuming Cam Wake will be back, but still). Either way that ain't good. What happens if Williams hasn't been dogging it and Cam gets injured? What is our secondary -- already a question mark -- going to look like then?
I realize that McCain's run contain has been suspect and that in the wide 9 outside run contain is more important than it is in a standard 4-3 but you should always find a way to keep guys who can rush the passer. Especially when the guys you're keeping him around for -- Jason Jones and/Andre Branch -- are so entirely "meh", neither doing things well or things poorly.

I'm with Wally on this one. If this is true, we'd better be getting something very worthwhile in return.
Going to guess low conditional draft pick next year - also avoids releasing a player for cut downs.
Fede has shown some potential as a run stuffer but why keep him and Jones and Branch? It's a passing league, ya know. Pass rushing is sort of important.
Don't think so, but will see.

I just question where our pass rush is going to come from. Cam Wake has not been able to stay healthy as he's aged and Mario Williams, well, who knows?
Agree, I actually thought that Fede injury might be the end for him here, still might be who knows.

Yes BUT...we dont know what the compensation will be. Maybe NO has a guard or CB we really like? I'm hoping this is the case, I'd prefer a player now rather than a late round draft pick for next year.

He was not just bad vs the run.. If we were forced to play him everyone knows people would run right at him and wash him out everytime. Im actually happy we get something in return for an undrafted guy. I will miss McCain on specials but I think they expect Jordan to take that role
