Christian Wilkins Wakes Up GMFB

I hope Grier and Co. have the money set aside to resign him.

I really like Wilkins on and off the field... But I don't know if he is worth resigning for a big contract. I think we could find someone just a little worse for much cheaper. I would hate to see him leave but we can't resign everyone.

I am very conflicted on resigning him. He may be a huge loss, but I think he can be replaced but maybe we will miss his leadership. Not sure at all.

Unsure of how the cap looks going forward, but isn't this upcoming off-season the year that Grier built in the trap door on Jones contract? If it is, would it be safe to assume that we will have money to resign Wilkins? I'm obviously pro-signing Wilkins to a contract. Guy has character, leadership and a hell of a motor. Love this dude. He's also hilarious....

I hope we keep him, I love the energy he brings and he is a stud inside.

I love Wilkins for sure...Love the Dolphins even more and wonder if a winning formula for a long term run will mean we lose some of these guys before that big contract and get great draft pick compensation through trades. We have seen what draft picks have done to bring in truly elite guys both with the Rams and this year with the Dolphins. So does a Wilkins go and Sieler gets more snaps with a Stille or someone and a Jalen Ramsey, Vonn Miller, Tyreek or Chubb type player come back......This is all if we could get a 1st for Wilkins...but if we can't, would signing him to a major contract be the best usage of money.......Glad I do not need to make those decisions.

Based on McDaniel’s love for the pass rush/dline and the signing of Chubb I’m fairly confident Grier keeps Wilkins in a Fins uniform for the foreseeable future. He’s eluded to it a few times in press conferences and I don’t know if people realize how important he views the dline when building a team.

I think McDaniel is going to construct this defense much the same as the Giants did in their SB runs. With todays pass happy NFL, a defense that can generate pressure and slow the rush with 4 lineman, is almost a prerequisite for SB contending teams.

Wilkins would be a key to that cog and I’m guessing McDaniel would much rather have the FO spend $ on players with Wilkins skill set than Byron Jones. Especially when you have a DC who seems to be able to find and develop CB’s from Nowhere Football University USA.
