Chubb expected to sign long term deal soon per ESPN

Unreal! How are we affording all of this? Then you consider Wilkins, Tua, Waddle etc are due contracts soon.
Wilkins, yes. Tua is a year away, and JW is two years away. It is actually nicely spaced.

Also don't forget, there is a huge new TV deal in place, and the cap is going to go up, as well.

Think we are going to do a payment plan. 18 months no interest.

Going to have to do some restructuring next year. And I bet Chubb's deal for 2023 will have near the minimum base salary to keep some breathing room. Big signing bonus/future guaranteed base salary.

An extension for Wilkins will surely decrease his current 2023 (5th year option) cap hit of 10.75M.

Sportrac.com has an estimated value for his contract, pretty cool feature they do:

Market Value

  • 4 yrs, $67,149,600
  • Avg. Salary: $16,787,400
  • NFL Rank: 81
  • DT Rank: 8
And also include some good comparison contracts

I'm not sure why so many people were concerned this might not happen...

In the video he shot with media on his way out the door, Chubb said he was hopeful that he would sign a long-term contract with Miami. Almost immediately after the trade, Schefter reported that a long-term deal was in the works. And during his presser today, Grier said you don't pull the trigger on a deal like this without having a good sense of what it would cost to lock him up long term (common sense) and that they would have something done soon.

Exactly.

Next year is really the only true worrisome year with the Cap.

A Wilkins extension will go a long way to helping that. Plus, depending on Chubbs contract, Miami has over 10 million to carry over correct?

This and we'll most likely not have Byron and Gesicki next year as well. I think we have an out from Ogbah in 2024 too.
