CK and other FinFans...do you think that C-PEP may need further surgery on his knee? The constant soreness and lack of football practice time has me a little worried that C-PEP may have more problems with his knee that we thought.

Now the possibility of putting C-PEP on IR has me pretty down.

I was hoping to see him play 4-2 games...now I doubt I'll see that:boohoo:

Do you think that him being put on IR is more due to the fact that we are 1-6 and there is no point in bringing him back this season?

Do you think that they want C-PEP to just focus on getting his knee stronger and to forget about football this season?

I'm pretty  right now with the C-PEP situation.

I hope the soreness is due to his rehab and nothing more...I hope there isn't further complications with his knee and I hope he doesn't need further surgery.

Man o man what a season...it just keeps getting worse.:shakeno:

GO FINS!!!

There's no problem at all Sal. He has an issue with swelling in the patella tendon which is caused when you work too hard too soon on a major reconstructed knee. No point in exacerbating that for a 1-6 team. Might as well lock him down for the year and give him 9 more months to get that knee back to normal, by which point he will be almsot 2 years on from the injury, which is the barometer by which you measure this sort of thing in terms of when a player regains full health.

No drama.

I disagree to a slight point Boomer....soreness could be a good item or a bad item....of which I do agree we should know which by next year. The bad issue is that those quacks let him play on it way too early.

I have exactly the same patella tendon soreness in my knee from a repaired MCL and PCL. It's literally an issue of too much, too soon. And only that individual person can tell when is too much, no matter how much your doctor gets paid.

;)

do you guys think that C-PEP may have done damage to his knee by coming back to soon and playing in the preseason and in the first 4 games of the regular season?

geez...this season has gone down hill and down hill fast.

the bottom line is that the Fins are 1-6...that sucks so bad. i had such high hopes for this team this season...the excitment just went all out in a bam just like a ballon being popped...it's so frustrating and i feel like i've been deflated.

Go Fins!!!

Nope. Not at all. Patella tendon swelling in cases like this is very common.

I don't think so, but what he may have done is screw up his throwing motion by compensating for the knee. Also keep an eye on his shoulder which was sore, just like pitchers, when they hurt there knees, they change the motion and hurt there shoulders.

Boomer my friend...Thank goodness I've never had that problem....and I hope you get over yours very quickly...but I would think...a doctor would know how much time it should take...before you should go all out on a knee. I'm sure a surgeon can tell if there's swelling. We have to hope that he didn't tear or stretch that tendon...he did get tackled a few times and he was slightly limping in the last game.

My wife had shoulder surgery....one of the best Doctors in N.Y. that she worked with at the Hospital did her surgery....they did all the scans and stuff and told her....we'll be in and out in appx 45 minutes....nothing to it....the operation took 3 1/2 hours...as a out patient...once they got into her shoulder....they found that the damage was very worse than they first saw and thought...she had the same surgery that Brees and Pennigton had after all was said and done.....far difference than what they said at the start....scar tissue.

That's not uncommon, I worked as a tech in a operating room for 10 years, some of the x-rays and MRi's can't pick up everything, and they can't tell until they go in the old fashioned way.

Agreed....thats the point I was trying to make....they say soreness...but from what...use or a worse problem...or is it soreness or pain....the two are far different....it appears that Culpepper wasn't fully truthful in the beggining...otherwise why would they let him play so early? I just feel there's more to this than they are letting us know.

Ive had a patella injury skiing in Bulgaria. My ski went West and my Knee went East! Patella popped out from behind my kneecap. Hurt big style and its never been 100% right since but only if i crouch down and flex on the knee putting strain on it. The patella tendon tightens up like a band and it feels that tight it might snap but everyday activities and that includes running and banging the knee has no side effects at all. Culpep dropping back to pass and throw putting pressure on his stance is putting pressure on the tendon.Patella tendon needs rest and for it to heal on its own with no stress or strains put on it. Culpepper will be fine IMO but he may not get any playing time this season if he's still feeling it at the moment.

you think that if daunte were playing near a probowl level and we were 6-1 the soreness would even be an issue? daunte is going on IR because we're 1-6 and he hasn't had a good game since 2004.

I think Pep lead on that his knee was in better shape then it actually was. I give him props for being a great competitor but for the teams sake and your future you have to be smart.

The worst part of all this is that if Cpep goes on IR, then we don't get to play him in any more games, therefore we don't know if we should draft a QB for future development, like Quinn. And this will HOPEFULLY be tha last year we draft this high up. But if DC doesn't play, Saban will probably assume DC will be fine and won't draft a Quinn or ?? and that's sad, because lets face it, when DC gets healthy, we don't really know for sure if he will be back to his Pro Bowl self or not.

thank you mr. saban, or is this the team doctor? either way i think its awesome that someone with intimate knowledge, someone whos an insider, would come on this board and clear it all up for us.:rolleyes2
