Hey -

Sorry to push the envelope and bring this up again, but I don't have enough posts to PM anyone and my previous thread was closed. I'm wondering what the difference is between asking if the game is going to be posted somewhere afterwards and then having people solicit emails with a link to someplace where the game will be broadcast via webcast? What's the difference between it being OK live and then not OK afterwards?

Again, not trying to be an annoyance or something, but I don't understand the difference and would like to?
 
OK so is there an answer to this or is it just going to get moved?

We'd much rather you ask this question in this forum, rather than create one in the main...

To answer your question though... things like torrents, posting "copies" of games, etc is illegal. The NFL has the copyright for every game, and it cannot be duplicated for public viewing unless express permission is given from the NFL.

Thanks for the quick response but I was responding to the comment that it was inappropriate to ask for "solicitation" of this type of thing.

How come it is OK to solict someone to set up a webcam to broadcst it for you?

It isn't; any use at all of copyrighted material for which you do not pay the owner is illegal.

Sorry, but we just can't take the risk of legally exposing the site in any way to action by the NFL or the feds. Better to keep that sort of thing out altogether, than try to guess which venue would be OK, and which wouldn't.

I hope that answers your question, if not feel free to ask for more clarification.
 
Thanks for the help again. It just seemed to me that there was an entire thread lasting hundreds of replies basically consisting of people posting e-mails or looking for a link from someone who would broadcast the game for them. It seemed to me like it was a big fishing expedition for them trying to get in on the game, so I was just upset when my question was so quickly dismissed. I'm still not sure where the difference lies, but I'm assuming it's something subtle in there somewhere. Regardless you've been more than kind in responding. For what it's worth, I wouldn't want to get this site in trouble with the law in any way, I do love it here.
