Clay has returned to Miami after 3 days in Buffalo & Dolphins have not pulled tender

It doesn't take this long to conjure up numbers guys.

Clay needs to take control of his own situation. And stop letting the Bills dictate his moves. Even if he wants to go to Buffalo, surely he sees at this point that they are not treating him like a priority.

We called both bluffs (Clay and Buffalo) by signing Cameron. And no matter how cute either want to be, we hold the cards. All deals go through us.

I don't really see the upside of Clay not signing the transition tender at this point. Why trust a team that has basically no history with you and no vested interest in you...that has said they will make an offer...but hasn't?

Not sure what he's doing.

The longer this drags on it looks like Buffalo cannot come up with a contract structure the Fins can't match. (Realistically, yes Buffalo has more cap room but they won't be foolish and over pay by THAT much)

They have one shot to land him with the contract structure but it looks like internally are struggling to pay him that much extra

The bills thought we were going to stay with what we had. We didn't and we caught them with their pants down. Their interest in him was nothing more than trying to drive up our price. We signed cammaron and they lost chandler. We called their bluff and they don't know what to do.

We didnt Lose Chandler. Chandler was always getting cut they did the classy move and cut him early so he could land a job.

Here's a totally silly possibility, but given how long this is taking why not throw it out there. It's not unheard of for a team to make a trade, even within the division, for a player with the transition tag. That is how Wes Welker was traded to the Patriots. Of course back then the Poison Pill was still legal, and the Patriots had added Poison Pill wording to the offer to Welker who the Dolphins had applied the transition tag to. (If Welker played 4 games in Miami in the first year of the contract, the whole contract would become guaranteed. So, if Miami matched the contract, Welker being a Dolphin, would, barring injury play 4 games in Miami, thereby automatically guaranteeing the entire contract, something the Dolphins did not want to do). In the end, the Patriots decided instead of adding the poison pill wording, which had caused friction between organizations in the past, they would work out a trade with the Dolphins.

Now, obviously the situation here is a different, and poison pill wording is no longer allowed, but what if Clay just doesn't want to play in Miami? It doesn't matter why, maybe palm trees make him queasy, or perhaps he's allergic to bikinis, or maybe he simply thinks Buffalo is a better opportunity to win a Super Bowl. Whatever the (hypothetical) reason may be, let's just say for the sake of argument that he wants out of Miami. Well then there would be an issue because if Miami matches Buffalo's offer, Clay is stuck in Miami for however long Buffalo's contract offer was for, he would basically be being forced to stay with an organization he wanted no part of. In that situation it would make sense for the all three parties to work out a deal. Clay gets out of Miami, Buffalo gets the player they want, and Miami gets compensation. Crazy, far fetched, and completely hypothetical? Sure. But not impossible.

No he is not. Chris Brown is the Media guy.

Clay was given a transition tag by the Dolphins, which means that Miami has the right to match any offer that might come the tight end’s way. They won’t get any compensation if Clay does leave, however, and Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that the Bills are “still studying” their cap and Miami’s cap to generate a structure for the deal that the Dolphins won’t match.

I don't understand this thinking.... There is nothing for Clay to "control" or "to do". Right now he is a Miami Dolphin until another team makes him an offer we have to match. What is he supposed to do?

Yes, because we all know Rex Ryan is nothing if not classy. Please, releasing him early was part of the whole "we want Clay at any cost" bluff.

BillsFanInPeace meant that Vic Carucci is not the Bill's actual Media Relations person. He is simply a member of the media, while Chris Brown is their official organizational "media guy", all teams employ one.

It was Whaley and Pegula that stepped in and released Chandler early. Just like it was Pegula that stepped in and said we are not cutting Fred Jackson.

Also Just FYI, Bills sitting at 16M in cap space (only thing not accounted for is Harvin at this point in that space)

yes he is a reporter for the Buffalo News, and a very well connected reporter. He worked in CLE until coming back this year. I would put his sources over Armando and Omar anyday.

Chris Brown is the one that is employed by the team.

Bills didn't seem prepared for this.
I don't think Bills plan to make any offer at this point, but are still pretending to.
At this point, Miami doesn't care, but Clay is stuck in the middle.
If I was Clay, I tell Bills you have X amount of time to make an offer, or sign with Miami.
Clay is not being given respect from Bills, which must concern him, which may work out for Miami.
