It's a pay article so i'm going to paraphrase it:
Culpepper didn't mind moving his hearing, because it was scheduled to be in LA, and it would have been hard for him to get players from the dolphins to testify for him. With the new date set in Miami, expect Players to testify on Culpepper's behalf. This could make it very uncomfortable for the fins, and could cause them just to release him outright. The jags want pep, and miami thinks it can get a 6th round pick for him. BUT the jags won't talk until the hearing is settled...

Yeah, its been talked about, I still think he loses his bid. He walked off, Mcnair was told to get off the field.

Thats what interested me the most...

Its hard to imagine how ANY of the veterans could be supporting him, or anyone who has been part of the team longer than he has for that matter...It could just be hearsay

There's nothing wrong with players going up and testifying what they saw and management will not hold that against them. The only thing management would hold against them would be if a player lied on Daunte's behalf. Fact of the matter is Daunte walked off the field and Stu Weinstein was with him only because Daunte wanted to get back into the locker room, which is locked up tight during practice to prevent theft.

Daunte most likely wants to get players to testify as to whatever the coaches said during the pre-practice meeting, because Culpepper has shown some dissatisfaction with how the coaches said in front of everyone on the team in that meeting that Daunte would not be allowed to participate in the team portion of practice.

What I'm curious about is what about those players testifing is expected to make the organazation uncomfortable enough to release him outright. That lends to culpeppers postion that the organazation did something wrong. If they did nothing to violate his contract why are they uncomfortable having the facts come out?

why are the Jags interested?
I thought they were okay at QB.

They are looking for upgrades at QB (not that DC is much of an upgrade on any team)...Leftwich is in a contract year and probably wont be resigned (they are unhappy with his durability and consistency) and Gerrard played well until the end of the season when he flopped.

Weird but I guess they feel that Daunte may be able to get back to form and if he did they would be aquiring a top NFL Qb for almost nothing. They have never said they would trade anything for him though and probably know since Daunte is from Florida and the bucs have 20 Qb's that they are in the driver's seat. They know we will not hold him much longer so I really don't see any psuh to get him too early. In my opinion the Jags are in much better shape at Qb than we are. 2 guys that have proven they can play at this level although Byron has been banged up. Of course someone on this board will tell us how Cleo Lemon is so superior to Garrard.

I wonder which players are supporting him..Apparently
Apparently, one of those players will NOT be Jay Feely, the player rep for the Dolphins. He is on record as saying he has not seen any wrong doing on Miami's behalf.

You could be right, but players tend to stick together, especially if they are concerned that Cpep has not had a full opportunity to heal and then compete for a job. I am not saying that he has or has not had this opportunity, but other players will put themselves in his shoes and wonder if the team will give up on them if they have a major injury.

I suspect that there are players who feel that Daunte should be allowed to compete with Green for the starting QB position, especially after going thru such a devastating knee injury. Whether he rushed himself back or was rushed back too soon last year is also a factor (either way could gain him sympathy from some players).

There are fans who have this opinion, so I suspect there are players as well. Players are more likely to see a pro bowl player who played at a very high level before an injury and deserves a chance (after all, they have or will have to deal with injuries and will want to believe that players can come back as good as before), while fans may see a guy who was injured and is now done, or does not fit the system.

I am not trying to create another Cpep debate (or whether the Fins or Cpep is acting like a bigger baby, etc), but there are a lot of opinions out there, and I SUSPECT that players may be MORE sympathetic to a guy trying to come back from a major injury than fans (or GM's) might be.

Finally some one was smart and assigned the player rep designation to some one who has a lot of free time: The kicker! Next our long snapper will sign up to be the Tape Trainer! And Brandon fields can valet park at the stadium between punts...:sidelol:
