ESPN's John Clayton reports the Raiders intend to draft Calvin Johnson with the No. 1 pick if the Dolphins acquire Trent Green from Kansas City.

Clayton's theory is that the whole top part of the draft depends on the future of Trent Green. If Green goes to Miami, Daunte Culpepper will be cut and Oakland would then sign him. Clayton says if a Green trade can't be worked out, the Raiders will be forced to draft JaMarcus Russell

so if we want a better chance at quinn, then we should sign green so russell goes to cleveland and quinn comes to miami, since oakland wont take russell because they want culpepper.

exactly.

I hope that happens. That would be good even though I'm really rooting for C-Pep. Hopefully he finds sucess in Oakland if that's where he ends up. Does anyone thing a 3 way trade like this could happen:

KC Gets: Oakland's 5th round pick
OAK Gets: Daunte Culpepper
MIA Gets: Trent Green

Yes? No? Maybe?

Thats actually a pretty good deal you have going there. The problem is that three way trades just dont seem to ever happen in the NFL.

Certainly makes sense, however, three way trades are hard to come by in the NFL for some reason (not like the NBA).

Whoa, that gets foggier by the minute. This almost sounds like reverse psychology to me...if we aquire a QB, it keeps them from drafting one....

i dont think so. I mean it could be the overall result if KC agrees to take a 5th rd pick for Green, but I dont see an official "3 team deal"; just dont see many of these in the NFL. Also if we do acquire Green and do decide to part with C-Pep, then I would like some kind of compensation for C-pep (like a conditional pick or something) rather than just release him.

Clayton needs a drug test. if it was that important to Oakland to determine thier first pick I'm sure they would trade for Culpepper. This theory borders on idiotic and if it true oakland needs to just hang it up. Another thing that seems funny how is Okalnad convinced that Culpepper can recover and no one else seems to know. I think I need a a hit of that stuff if they are making decisions based on Trent green being traded lol.

I guess they assume that the Dolphins will just cut Culpepper...now wouldn't be stupid...knowing that the Raiders just screwed themselves by passing on Russell. Seems to me the Dolphins would have the Raiders over a barrel.

:sidelol:
I've thought that exact same thing many time after hearing a "breaking" report from Clayton. This does seem puzzling from Oakland's perspective but before delving too much into thought, do remember these are the oakland raiders. Who knows what Al has going on in that head of his

Yeah, this makes little sense as our team probably would give him up for a 4th at this point. If they are that set on Calvin Johnson, just offer us something and we send them C-Pep and turn around and use what we got from them to aquire Green

Why? Every report and rumour out there has us cutting Culpepper if Green is signed.

To me, it seems like an old fashioned staredown between Peterson, Mueller and Davis, seeing who will flinch first.

I find it kind of funny that both the Chiefs and Raiders are in this. Two old fashion rivals.
