Pretty much sums it up.

If Green plays 70 percent of the offensive snaps, Peterson would get his No. 4.

I wish the conditions were more performance-based. That way, we avoid a Harrington-esque draft debacle and ensure that if we do give up the 4, it's for a good reason.

Cameron and Mueller look at Beck as being a younger version of Kurt Warner.

Not sure that's such a good thing...

What winning a superbowl isnt enough?

We gave to much for green IMO. a 5th and soon to be a 4th... ouch.

Hey if he bring

I suppose you wanted a starter for a 7th rounder? This isn't John Madden Football's franchise mode.

C'mon. Let's be realistic here. We has come valid points about not wanting to give anything, but the reality of it is we aquired a proven starter in this league and not just a caretaker. A first day pick would've been getting raped. We gave up fair market value.

Not really. I'm talking post Super Bowl Warner. The sack-happy turnover machine that got replaced by Matt Leinart and Eli Manning. Not something you want to see in a franchise QB. I'm more inclined to believe that it's the system, the OL, and Marshall Faulk's presence that helped Warner during the Rams successes. Marc Bulger fared just as well replacing Warner as well as Trent Green before he went down.

I think we've learned that in today's NFL, you have very few players who "are a system" as opposed to "part of a system."

Perhaps. But Warner found himself no longer a part of any system because of his turnover-prone tendencies. I'm hoping that's not the case with Beck.

Ya well Warner also messed up his thumb on his throwing hand and suffered quite a few massive hits along the way. He was a product of timing and the right system with the right players that they could acclimate to his talents.

The second quote3 is very interesting to me. If true, and in the context of how it relates to Green...If CamRam look at Beck as a young Kurt Warner that basically means they are saying they think he could elbow Green out of the starting position before the year is over. I was originally under the impression that the main reason we wanted Green was to give Beck a year with no worries.

I think when Mueller and Cameron compare Beck to Warner, they're probably comparing him to the young phenom Kurt...not the old broken down concussion-ridden Kurt

I agree. As a long-time Chiefs fan I'm kind of sad to see Trent go, but it is time for it to happen. We need to rebuild and develop our young guys. You guys got a proven starter (in your system) and a great professional & mentor for Beck. IMO, this was a fair deal for both sides (well, assuming we do get the 4th :)).

Good luck Trent!

Um, didn't Warner win league MVP?

yep, and in his defense, he's battled head injuries and a nasty thumb injury that has ended a couple of other qbs careers. his three year split from 99-01 might be one of the best windows of time in nfl history.

...I wish the conditions were more performance-based...

70% of the snaps is performance based. The only reason Harrington got so much time in was because Cpep got hurt, remember? If Green is not getting the job done and the season starts looking grim, enter Cleo Lemon or John Beck.

Also, don't underestimate the value of Trent Green in the locker room. Not only is he a perfect stop-gap until Beck is ready but he is also a perfect mentor and lead by example class act!

Doesn't between 4 and 5 mil a year for a 37-year old formerly concussed QB seem like a bit much to anyone else? Or is it just me?
