It was just changed from 10 players to 11 on ESPN News.

EDIT: RealGM added Donyell Marshall to Seattle. (10)

not a bad deal for the Cavs. Get rid of Hughes' contract as well as Ira Newble, get the PG they need in West, another scorer in Wally, decent scoring big in Smith, and a decent leader in Big Ben.

Yeah, I would say Cleveland really got the better of all this.

Hughes has been nothing short of nothing for the most part, and they pick up some really really nice players to surround LeBron with...

I just look back to the last time Cleveland was active at the deadline and got Lee Nailon(who has a decent jump shot) and Flip Murray. They played very well. Last year, LeBron (and Boobie) carried the Cavs to the finals, but LeBron really does not have a lot of help since only Boobie and Jones are 3 point shooters, and they really did not have a PG or good shooting big men. They did a really good job getting good complimentary players.

Also, Big Ben might be on the decline, but from all indications he was miserable in Chicago, and he was brought in to do something that he really can't do (be a low post threat)

The 11th and final addition to the trade = Shannon Brown to Chicago.

Older additions for my boys( the sonics) no? Was this to just unload szczerbiak's contract?

Basically yes. The deal gives them some cap room at the end of the year when Ira Newbles contract comes off the books. Basically they traded Wally's 13 million dollar contract next year for Donyell Marshall and Adrian Griffen's combined 7.6 million dollars, for a saving of 5.4 million.

Pretty much, yeah. Straight salary dump.

Chicago saves a little salary, too; Hughes contract isn't quite as obscene as Wallace's.

I just can't get excited about this deal, though. The Bulls get a shot at a couple young players who might be something (Simmons and Brown), but young talent isn't exactly their problem right now. I like Gooden for that team; they need a big who can actually score.

As for Cleveland...well, Danny Ferry did the best he could with what he had. I'm not crazy about this deal for them, but they probably did the best they could. The Cavs were already an excellent rebounding team, so they really didn't need Wallace from that end, but he should help them tighten up their defense a bit, which has been mediocre this year.

Problem is: all this does is limit the minutes for Anderson Varejao. There's no way the Cavs can play Wallace and Varejao together; they'll get killed on the offensive end. Playing Wallace and Varejao is practically a license to triple-team LeBron James. So Wallace will help defensively, but when you consider that most of his minutes come at the expense of Varejao, the overall impact isn't nearly as significant.

I do like the Szczerbiak pickup, though. That's going to help a lot; the Cavs have a team full of guys who can't make a 3 to save their lives. With James drawing attention, there should be some open looks for Szczerbiak to take advantage of.
