Why was the clock running at the end of the game when the previous play was out of bounds????

I was surprised by that as well. In fact....Fouts (who I hate) had just said, that the only good thing about that play where RT was stripped was it stopped the clock. I think you can actually see a lack of concern for the clock by the players on that last play because I believe even they thought the clock wouldn't start till the snap.

I don't know if this was a mistake or not.....but the refs seems to be ok with it.

They explained that a fumble out of bounds at the end of the game doesn't stop the clock. I don't remember under how many minutes the rule is. But didn't Miami call a TO with 2:09 left and then Seattle threw an incomplete pass that stopped the clock at 2:08?

If Tannehill would have run out of bounds, I believe the clock would have stopped. Because it was a fumble that went out of bounds, the clock stops until the ball is set. If a player was down without going out of bounds, the clock wouldn't have stopped at all to set the ball. I may be completely wrong, but that is how I understand it.

Biggest clock issue in the game was the free field goal attempt awarded to the Seahawks when Russell Wilson threw the ball into the stands from inside the pocket under pressure with 5 seconds left in the half. That was obvious intentional grounding and should have resulted in a ten second runoff.

Badly officiated game in many respects, but that was the worst.

It makes senses. You don't want guys with no timeouts intentionally fumbling out of bounds to stop the clock. I go back many years when I saw Anthony Carter with Michigan catch a ball in the middle of the field and then turn and fire a pass two or three yards backwards and out of bounds to stop the clock. At the time it seemed smart since it was legal, but I could see why they would make a rule that says if a playe fumbles the ball inbounds and it goes out of bounds it gets marked back to fumbled spot inbounds.

You see that happen all the time. If there's a receiver near the sideline they're not going to call that grounding. Just like when you see a quartback fire the ball into the stands at the back of the endzone.

Don't forget, copious amount of holding calls missed. Dolphins defenders being dragged down to the ground by their jersey and no call.

There was a horse collar take on Jakeem Grant that was a no call, about 5 offensive pass interferences that were not called on Seattle's WRs and several no holding calls on Wake, Suh and Jones.

The fins overcame those non calls and absolute intimidating and deafening crowd noise to almost win. I think this team is what we hoped they would be last year, better than we thought they'd be this year, they just need to learn how to win games.

Seattle's defense was very physical and our boys did not back down.
