I know that everyone is upset but it was only one game against the team with the best record in the NFL
last year and the 1st unanimous NFL MVP in the HISTORY of the award. Did you expect them to get worse? They are like any other team, they try to improve in the offseason. I thought that we played well with a new system and I like our flashy new offense. I think we had over 6 plays of 20+ yards last night. I would love to see how many games it took us to get there last year.
Anyway, I believe that things are looking up. (maybe after the Texans game, I'll have a different feeling)

If our Defense play like that again... its going to be a long season

yes, technically in the standings it was one game. yes, 16 teams are 0-1 in the nfl just like 16 are 1-0.

however, last night was a little more than just one game from this standpoint. it was a loss to a division rival, at home. we haven't won in ages in foxboro in December, and although i will be optimistic when time comes in December, and heck maybe we will win, but going by the track record of both teams during that time of year in foxboro, it seems like now with the loss last night, we will prob get swept to the pats, meaning it will be real tough to win the division, and who knows about playoffs.

bottom line, it is one game, but in the standings it translates into more than just one game. and the way we played on defense was very worrisome

I think are defense will get it right there to good not to.

I agree. We just got shot down by probably the best offense in the league with 7 months to prepare for the game. And I thought we hung with them pretty good, considering. A couple of plays go the other way and we would of been right in it. The defense will improve, guaranteed. No need to panic...yet.

We could have really used this offense LAST YEAR.

Now i'm more worried about our " upgraded " defense.

I'll reserve judgment till we play on the road. We weren't good at home last year either.

If the defense does improive and this is the way our offense is going to be all season realiticly we could win 11-12 games.

It's not that our defense wasn't good. It's they looked fat and out of shape. There is no reason for player from a team that plays in south florida isn't ready for the heat. Vontea davis, jason taylor, nolan carol all of them went down with cramps at one point. The pats went no huddle and wore this defense out. We didn't get beat because they were that much better we got beat because they were in better condition than we were. The strenght and conditioning coach really needs to get an earfull.

Did y'all see Tony's new slogan in the Miami Herald???

"Gas tanks had been placed in the Dolphins’ locker room this past week as inspiration, “to make sure they’re loaded and ready to go,” said Sparano of his players."

Think Tony meant "Gassed Up" ... but the players HEARD "GASSED" :confused2:

Speaking of GAS ... Ireland's Free Agency moves are smelling like an Egg-SBD in a phone booth!!

Blaming & cutting Sapp is rediculous to me ... they signed him & didn't upgrade him or hardly anyone else. Ross knows who's gonna have to go if these FUBARs repeat this year (like ST & game-plans did last year).

P.S. It wasn't "just one loss" ... it was the Record-Setting D Total Collapse of the Season Opener on MNF!! ... quite different!! C'MON maaaan!! lol

What is upgraded about this again? Same CB's who haven't done anything outstanding in 2 years? Gotcha.

It's not just one game to me when I remember just how poorly this team played down the stretch last year. Getting beat by the likes of Cleveland, Buffalo, Detroit, and the Patriots backups isn't just a one game problem. And while I think we have a new offensive mentality, our secondary really wasn't doing that well down the stretch, and yet Smith and Davis come out thinking they can be the best in the NFL, and the team brings in no realistic help to reinforce what is there in case it does go bad.

Its not one game, its one more game in an ongoing saga of futility. This regime has no idea how to fix things. They plug up one hole and spring a leak somewhere else. Sporanos first year was great and its been downhill from there. Teams with new coaches are supposed to get better over time not worse.
After that first year when Pennington was all world and basically carried the team and didn't need to rely on Tony, the players got to know their hc better and now play like he coaches, poorly. At least the ones who have managed to stick around all this time. Mostly its been a revolving door of players. He's not smart enough to be a hc, he can't think fast enough during the game, so of course the team is gonna make a lot of mistakes.
Most professional teams are a reflection of their head coach and the reflection looks like hell.

Lets put it this way. Its just one game, thats how many home games we won in the last 12.... That explains it better.

I dont know why everyones jumping on this d yes they got out played but after the first 2 scores from brady our d shut them down all the way until Davis was out then they exploited the weakness (sapp and carrol) every single time and scored 3 Tds on them. Completely different story with Davis and Smith in there....Also, one of bradys bombs was because he saw Sean Smith Limping and got a freebie...This D will be fine, Bradys numbers were hollow although he did have a good game all his yards were against backups. Will be fine and should have easily had a chance to win that game.

Lets see how many times we hear, it's just one game this year. Heard it 9 times last year, and 9 times the year before. That line is getting a little played out in Dolphin land.
