Right from the Miami Herald:

"But Ross said Parcells ''recognized he has a lot of work to do. . . . You've got to be realistic. You don't go from 1-15 to 12-4. Until a real quarterback steps up, that's the big thing. Let's hope [it's John Beck]." :woot: :beer1:

Here is the whole article: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/484945.html

To me, that's a pretty clear indication that it's a 99.9% chance that were are NOT going to take a QB in the first couple rounds of the draft, and that the front office has high expectations for Beck as our Furutre QB. So with that said, please STOP all the RYAN, FLACCO, BROHM, WOODSON, as our QB threads!!! :hi5:

Having the support of the new co-owner certainly helps John's cause. However, I think he said it because, like most of us we are all tired of going through quarterback after quarterback trying to find "the guy." I think we can all agree that if John Beck can become a successful quarterback, the better it is for the Miami Dolphins!

If your the owner of team wouldnt you always hope that the team u just bought had your "QB of the Future"??

PS. I hope John Beck is our QB of the future, but i have no way of knowing. Basically those comments give us zero indication of what the Dolphins will do in the draft.

Personally I think that you shouldn't read too much into anything that's being said before the draft. It might just be another smokescreen.

To me it just just shows a boost of confidence in him. We have McCown on our roster and have an opening for a possible 3rd QB, but he named Beck, and not McCown or anyone else.

Remember this is a new owner to a professional sports team and don't think has has experience on "pre-draft smokecreens". It's not like Parcells or Sparanowas saying it.

You take all this from this article lol. Thats hardly an endorsement lol. Until a real quarterback steps up, lets hope thats John Beck. Sounds like he has no faith in that really. I always buy a lottery ticket and hope its the winner but thats far from saying that I have a good feeling its a winner. We are really reaching for straws when you think this shows we are not drafting a QB early. Almost every sign points to us taking a Qb in the first 3 rounds.

it doesn't mean anything. sparano was pretty lukewarm when asked about beck so i think we'll be drafting a quarterback early in the draft. they have asked beck to gain 10 or 15 pounds and completely change his throwing motion so i don't know if they have much confidence in him.

Brilliant logic. :(
So let me get this straight. The owner of a team saying that he hopes beck pans out -- a guy the franchise has already used a high draft pick on; and paid good money to; and who's used the team's resources. Remarkable! And this means that it's 99% out of the question that another QB with some upside will be drafted for insurance for the future? Okay, pal. I'll listen. Let's all stop running opinion threads on a largely opinion forum, just because the team's new owner, like any businessman, hopes a big investment isn't a total waste.
unreal

unless we get a guy like Simms or another vet then you have to believe that we'll draft a QB...is just a matter of who and when....I'm hoping that Beck get a chance to start and does a great job but nobody knows how he's going to do yet...we could draft a QB just about anywhere....it'll depend on who's on the board everytime is our turn to pick...not only what QB is on the board but also what other players are up there.

Ozzy rules!!

That's EXACTLY what Beck's agent wants to hear, and exactly what Parcells & Sporano & Ireland DON'T want to hear.

Owners should stay in their skyboxes with their champagne and cavier & not meddle...

I think Josh may beat him out, how will he feel knowing that the owner wants the other guy to start?

Oh C'mon does this look like a football guru to you?

Beck probably reminds Mr.Ross of his grandson Jay Fielder!
