Sip on that, swish it around a little why don't you. Consider this a necessary precaution.
Noooobody saw this coming, but it's goin' down, brother. That's what I'm thinking now.

Todd Bowles is the man for the job at this point. He has more Head coach experience than the other candidates.
Whats even more meaningful is that it was experience with this front office, this roster.
He did pretty damn well, except for that collapse in Foxboro. Damnit.

He's in his late 40's, and in this pass first league, defensive backfield specialists are very valuable. In fact,Belichek,Saban,Tomlin and many more were originally secondary specialists, and still primarily focus on that aspect !

And for the legions of faithful fans in/from NJ, Bowles is a Jersey Boy.

Most importantly however, the hiring of Bowles will make a splash, well atleast a ripple. He'd be the first Black Coach in Franchise history, long overdue....... especially in Miami baby. So don't go having a fit if/when he is hired. Everything is going to be O K.

I could live with Bowles has HC. The guy was assistan HC under Sparano and did take over the D after game 5 or 6 I think. Between McCoy, Philbin, and Bowles it's a complete toss up. There is nothing that anyone here can tell me that makes one better than the other, althought a lot finheaven members think they know it all.

Another damn position coach -and not even one who was particularly impressive in his job leapfrogging up 2 levels? Thanks but no thanks.

I'm not interviewing them, the dolphins are. TWICE. The Raiders are seriously considering him too. I thought we established that playcallers dont always make the best coaches, born coaches do.

You speak as if Philbin and McCoy are experienced coordinators. Yes philbin did win a superbowl with a great(extremely talented) offense. He wasn't calling the plays, however. Regardless, that " we don't have to run the ball, EVER" approach can easily backfire. And it doesnt work as well when you dont have the best quarterback in the world.

some finheaven members just dont believe that a guy who has never even been a coordinator in the nfl and the unit he is in charge of, the secondary, has been at the bottom on EVERY TEAM HE HAS DONE IT FOR, is the right guy, and deserving of our head coaching job. i dont "know it all", but i know that hiring a guy to run a whole team who hasnt done a thing with his portion of the team he has been responsable for is not a wise choice.

so, how is a guy who has been socialy promoted [with limited promotions] by bill parcells and the parcells diciples [ireland/sparano] and fielded the worst part of our defense THE GUY for the h/c job? any answers for that? well, i just like him doesnt cut it. WHY do you like him?

in fact, ALL of you guys who are chicken chokin' over bowles, why exactly is that? he has been given the job of over seeing the secondary in all 3 of his nfl coaching stops [dallas, cleveland, miami] and in each case, his secondaries were bottom of the barrell.

all 3 of those teams have/had strict media silence with the players AND staff so todd bowles hasnt been giving a butt load of interviews. as far as i know, there is no todd bowles show on tv or radio. no interviews on espn or nfl network but all these folks who just love him and think he is the right guy dont even know him! he is a face on the sideline, or on the practice field. but they love them some todd bowles!!!! how can you be so sure about a guy you more than likely have never even heard speak and his units are at the bottom portion of the nfl? his smile? his twinkly eyes?

silly.

AND ALL THIS CRAP about about bowles taking over the defense from mike nolan [a real coach, with a proven, winning record] in game 5 or 6 or 7 or whatever, is absolute NONSENSE!! it didnt happen!! think about it for one minute, in all the games this year [and i watch and tivo them ALL and re watch them] have you heard ANYONE during a game, from the booth, any anouncer say, "wow! that was some call by todd bowles. he has really shaped this defense up!". have you heard that, anywhere?

no, you havnt, because it has never been said by dierdorff or simms or whoever is covering the games because HE HASNT BEEN RUNNING THE DEFENSE OR CALLING PLAYS ALL YEAR!!!

i dont "know it all" and will NEVER claim i do. if a link or video from a CREDIBLE source is produced, hey, thatS facts! i chock it up to knowledge. and right now, [and i have asked 5 or 6 times now], i havnt seen any links! no video! no article in the sun sentinel or herald or dolphins digest. NOTHING!!

you have a leauge respected, top defensive coordinator running our defense and all of a sudden [and i dont care if he was handed a phoney assistant head coach title to get him from the boyz] one of his assistants has been handed the play calling, or as you say now, the defense, you dont think there would have been some public backlash? that it would be covered and ROUNDLY debated, and for some time?

again, where is it? you dont have to "know it all" to figure things out. sometimes its just common sense and bowles, a guy who cant even do anything with his unit getting handed the play calling makes NO SENSE AT ALL!! it would still be news and debated.

so one more time, WHERES THE LINK? if thats true, i am fine. nolan is gone. i only care about facts and i wont question it or second guess it anymore. where is the PROOF? if "everyone knows" todd bowles has been running the defense since week 6, WHERE IS THE INFO? WHERE IS THE PROOF?

balls in your court FOOLZOO13. show us all the links, articles and or video saying this was done.

Bowles is a Jersey Boy? I prefer a Delaware Fella.

todd bowles was the assistant head coach which is probably closer than maybe either of these other 2 x's and o's guys, not to mention that he was the interim coach. so in fact, he may very well be THE MOST qualified candidate left in the running.

that being said - unfortunately i feel the FO of the miami dolphins is aware that there are too many ppl like you around, so he wont get a fair shot.

i hope he does though.

@NRA...It was a rumor even in the article about him taking over duties from Nolan, so no I cant tell you 100%. Even if you throw that out, the guy alteast has the respect of the team and was our Assistant HC for 13 games and HC for 3 games. Those are FACTS.

My point is there is nothing that makes McCoy or Philbin that much better than Bowles.I never said he was my #1 option. All I am saying is no one here can tell me the other two are for sure better options. So like I said...its a toss up and I could live with who ever we choose.

If ross was smart he would hire Todd. And then we can go 2-14 next year wrap up the #1 pick in Matt Barkley. Then Fire Ierland and Todd adn give Cower or Gruden 100 MIllion a year to be COACH & GM.

wow !!! i got lost in all nonsense there... i could make similar arguments against the other candidates and their units not producing.........all of your arguments pertainging to Bowles apply to Philbin and McCoy as well. *situational awareness* Philbin wasnt calling plays either, and like i said, playcalling is not the recipe for a good coach.

but lets not get lost in numbers here...... we're down to a few options and bowles is as good as any of them.
